IKANDY 1.5.0: HDR is here
Quote: "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." — Oscar Wilde
The whole show in HDR. Supported HDR pictures, video, Windows screen capture and Spout sources keep their full highlight range through Image Studio, canvas composition, effects, overlays and the final display. Mirror and span map the finished show for each HDR or SDR display, wallpaper presents HDR through scRGB, Spout offers separate SDR and FP16 HDR senders, and recording can write PQ or HLG 10 bit VP9.
- Capture FX, the first four looks: Feedback Cathedral, Liquid Glass, Flow Ink and Shatter / Reform, each with its own musical gestures. Saved presets, Stage transitions and Spout AUTO keep working.
- Windows screen capture: faster (roughly double the source frame rate), survives a resize of the captured window, accepts every current source.
- Loops has a starter: a 30 second Big Buck Bunny clip (Blender Foundation, CC BY 3.0) ships in Loops, so the library is never empty.
- Slingshot fleets: five distinct hulls per fleet, one reserve switch, weapon and defense timing fixes, a fuller match screen. Online play needs both players on 1.5.0; the lobby says so instead of desyncing.
- PILOT and AUTO see the whole library: PILOT draws from the bundled AI records, Studio mixes and playlists, and Favorites only PILOT includes your starred saved records, 3D fractals included. AUTO Favorites follows the full browser order, MilkDrop and saved records included; FILTERED covers every saved record class.
- Fractal materials without the rings: Chrome, Gold, Jade, Glass and Obsidian on all seven 3D fractal families lost their circular bullseyes and kept their character.
- Dense Boids are visible again: big flocks no longer dim to nothing.
- Mirroring no longer softens your main screen: a smaller or differently shaped mirror gets a center crop and the console keeps its full picture. Output Stage has a switch to preview the mirrored framing on the console for live shows.
- Very wide spans on every graphics card: each monitor imports only its own slice of the show, so a five monitor span fits a card with the common 8192 pixel texture limit.
- Mirror and span start on their own: no more pressing NEXT to get the first frame.
- AUTO keeps going: a Spout scene that cannot start no longer stops the rotation.
- Pets stay out when you hide the UI: they are part of the show, so they keep playing along the bottom of the picture and every mirror, recording and wallpaper keeps seeing them.
- Closing IKANDY asks in the app's own style: the close confirmation is an IKANDY dialog now, with Minimize Instead when a wallpaper is running.
- Fixes: a My Scenes save no longer fails when antivirus scans the picture; a late MilkDrop load can no longer pull you out of One Small Step; wallpaper handoffs leave no old surface on top; Boids records keep their names.
- Locked down: production builds refuse debugging, remote inspection and sandbox bypass switches, including the Windows spellings that used to slip through.
- NDI: output stays mapped SDR. HDR NDI sending needs the separately licensed NDI Advanced SDK.

Every scene gets the full finishing chain. Shader imports, AI Create scenes, MilkDrop presets, Workshop items and video loops now enter the finishing chain the same way the built-in scenes do. Bloom, god rays and the beat punch add real light on top and the tone curve compresses it, so bright scenes glow instead of washing out to flat white.
- Clip governor: the presented frame is metered every frame. When a scene is already at the ceiling, bloom, god rays and the lens ease back and return on their own.
- Calibration at content time: every scene is measured the first time it is shown and the result is saved with the scene. The bundled AI presets ship pre-calibrated.
- Compute scenes in true HDR at every quality tier: on a 4K HDR display at Standard quality they used to fall back to SDR white.
- God rays on every kind of scene: MilkDrop presets and imports get the same shafts a built-in scene does.
- PILOT rotation: no more opening on the same handful of scenes, and the rotation remembers what it has shown between sessions.
- Loading screen: it holds until the default scene has actually drawn.
- Fractal Recursive Cathedral: its chrome is back.
