Pupultas!
The Penetrative Update is here! Let’s look at what it brings in our new video:
Or read the article to learn what’s new!

Starting Bonuses in the campaign

As we mentioned previously, one of the main features of the Penetrative update is Starting Bonuses you can choose when selecting a campaign mission. These perks are aimed to boost the very beginning of base building and ease up early development. But if you strive for more challenging gameplay, you can choose no bonuses at all!
Keep in mind that the number of perks you can take is limited by the amount of bonus points you have, which gradually increases when you progress through the campaign. It also opens access to more powerful (and more expensive) bonuses.

Morgana the Chicken Wizard

One of the Starting Bonuses is truly magical! Should you select her, Morgana the Chicken Wizard will occasionally appear to shower you with piles of resources — just come and take them!

Corpse rework

We’ve changed how zombies from corpses work. While they are still aggressive to player’s units, citizens and buildings, they no longer move towards the Town Hall. Moreover, they are no longer permanent — which means after some time they actually die and disappear. Additionally, gravediggers are now immune and can’t catch diseases. Please note that the changes do not affect zombies resurrected by Magisters of Necromancy and those that are part of attacking waves.
The changes above render the Endless Mode map They Are Legion and the challenge Served up for Dead obsolete. As such, they are no longer in the game. Saves made in these missions are not available.
These are the major changes that this update brings. For the full list of changes see the patch notes under the cut!

Yours, the Door 407 dev team

Update 1.0.180_r

Features

  • Campaign: Starting Bonuses mechanic:
    1. The player can select a number of bonuses using bonus points available to the player. The number of bonus points and what bonuses the player can choose is tied to the selected mission. Missions closer to the end of the campaign offer more bonuses and more bonus points. Players can also choose no bonuses if they wish so;
    2. Bonuses include free buildings, resources, units, opened research and modifications to building characteristics;
    3. Morgana the Chicken Wizard: a starting bonus that makes a special chicken to periodically appear and grant you piles of resources.

Improvements

  • Corpses rework:
    1. Zombies from corpses no longer move towards the Town Hall and disappear after certain time (does not affect zombies resurrected by Magisters of Necromancy and those that are part of attacking waves);
    2. The Endless Mode map They Are Legion and the challenge Served up for Dead became obsolete and thus are no longer available, including saves made in the missions;
  • Gravediggers can no longer be infected;
  • Improved the minimap indication of buildings that spawn enemy units. The markers now also blink when the spawning happens;
  • Map Editor: bug nests can now be specified as targets for mission objectives and event-triggered messages;
  • Tutorial: improved instructions for creating unit groups;
  • Some UI fixes and improvements.

Bug Fixes

  • Campaign: fixed an issue that caused the number of collected precious figurines in UI differ from the number in mission objectives in the Ransom for the Princess mission;
  • Fixed an issue that caused some enemy units not to appear in the Next Attacking Wave information box;
  • Fixed an issue that caused player’s units Sarranga Swordtail and Flesh Collector under the influence of skills Forced Intermission and Cocoon to receive damage from magic and explosions, when they were not supposed to;
  • Direct Unit Control: fixed an issue that caused Direct Unit Control UI to persist after the controlled unit dies;
  • Fixed an issue that caused torches to appear and hover over unfinished fortifications after saving during the night and loading the save;
  • Fixed an issue that caused pressing the ESC button in the research window to open the menu rather than closing the research window;
  • Fixed a rare issue that caused the game to save over existing saves in the research window;
  • Some localisation fixes.
