Master the elements, weave together tiers of magic, and explore the wondrous world of Wyn when top-down metroidvania adventure, Magical Blush, launches September 10th on Steam!
The spell-slinging top-down action-adventure combines fast-paced elemental combat and multi-tiered spell system with interconnected, metroidvania-style exploration through the magical world of Wyn.
At the heart of Magical Blush is its Elemental System, which challenges players to think beyond raw, magical power. Arnin commands spells based on Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Spirit, while enemies have their own elemental strengths, weaknesses, and neutral affinities. Choosing the right magic for each encounter, and knowing when to switch elements, is essential when battling everything from troublesome minions to Wyn's formidable bosses. They also allow Arnin to alter scenarios by gaining access to new areas and secret passages!
Keeping the pressure on enemies is rewarded through the game's multi-tier spell system. Casting low tier spells generates Mana, which is then spent to unleash more powerful, high tier spells. Rather than saving weaker magic for lesser enemies, players must continually weave low and high tier spells together, building Mana before spending it on stronger attacks and creating a constant rhythm of magical offense.
Players can build their own magical loadout by assigning spells to two separate palettes across four action buttons, then swap between the palettes in real time during combat. With two sets of spells immediately at their fingertips, players can quickly change their approach on the fly, string different spells together, and respond to the elemental affinities of the enemies standing in their way.
Magic isn't the only way to shape Arnin's abilities. Players can discover and equip Talismans throughout their journey to enhance her capabilities and customize their playstyle. New abilities also expand Arnin's movement and exploration options, opening previously inaccessible routes and creating new reasons to revisit familiar locations.
Beyond battle, Wyn is built around interconnected stages, branching paths, hidden areas, and rewarding backtracking. Every new ability can reveal new possibilities in places players have already explored, while hidden lore scattered throughout the world gradually uncovers the backstory and the truth behind the chaotic world, as well as the disappearance of Arnin’s brother, Niran.
