Hello everyone!

This update focuses on making equipment easier to compare, improving the crafting workflow, and removing a few small frustrations from everyday play.

Several of these changes came directly from player feedback. Thank you to everyone who took the time to explain where the interface was slowing you down.

Gear Tooltips Now Separate Base Stats from Modifications

Previously, equipment displayed all of its stats as one combined value. That meant working out whether a new drop was actually better often required mentally subtracting alchemy bonuses, Portal Imprints, Primordial Cores, and enchantments from your current gear.

Tooltips now display two columns:

  • BASE — the item's natural stats, compared directly against the base stats of your equipped item.

  • ADDED — everything contributed by Alchemy, Portal Imprints, Primordial Cores, and Grand Enchanter Vaelin.

The comparison value shown in brackets now compares base against base, making it much easier to judge an item's potential before investing resources into it.

The tooltip has also been widened slightly, fixing an issue where longer stat names could extend beyond the edge of the window.

Grand Enchanter Vaelin Enhancements Now Display Correctly

Vaelin's enhancements were previously stored as a combined total rather than tracked per individual stat, making them impossible to display correctly in the new ADDED column.

New enhancements are now recorded per stat and display correctly.

Enhancements applied before this update cannot be reconstructed retroactively. Those items instead display a separate summary line showing the total enhancement value, so nothing is hidden.

Alchemy Station Quality-of-Life Improvements

Alchemy Station now remembers your selections.

Previously, infusing an item cleared both the selected equipment and the selected material, requiring you to choose them again after every infusion.

Both selections are now preserved between infusions.

If an item reaches its upgrade limit, it also remains selected, with the reason clearly displayed instead of silently disappearing from the interface.

Equipped items are now listed first within the Alchemy Station.

The [EQUIPPED] label has also been moved before the item name, making equipped gear much easier to identify while scanning longer lists.

A Way Home After Completing a Quest

Completing a story quest in Dread Catacombs or Celestial Rift now opens a portal back to Oakhaven beside the NPC who gave you the quest.

Previously, the only way home was to use recall, costing 1% of your current gold.

Finishing the work you came to do shouldn't cost you anything to leave.

The return portal also serves as a clear visual indication that you've completed everything there is to do in that portal for this visit.

Like other portals throughout the game, you can simply examine it or click it to return directly to Oakhaven's town square. As always, it functions fully in both English and Simplified Chinese.

Thank you, as always, for the bug reports, suggestions, and thoughtful feedback. Small quality-of-life improvements like these make Portalborn smoother to play, and they continue to shape the direction the game is heading.

PortalbornGame update9 Sep 2026Portalborn — Window ControlsHello everyone! The follow-up to the last update, as promised. 🪟 WINDOW CONTROLS ARE BACK Windowed mode now has its own control bar at the top of the game, with minimise, maximise and close buttons. It's built in the game's own style, so it follows whichever theme you're using — including custom ones from the Theme Workshop. ⭐ It only appears in windowed mode. ⚠️ Borderless and fullscreen stay…PortalbornGame update8 Sep 2026Portalborn — Borderless Fullscreen FixHello everyone! A window-mode fix, from a player report. 🖥️ BORDERLESS IS NOW ACTUALLY BORDERLESS It wasn't. It was the normal window, resized to fit inside the desktop — so you still saw the title bar, and the taskbar stayed on top of the game. ⚠️ This was the default mode, so most players have been running it. Now it does what the name says: no window frame, covering the entire display, task…PortalbornGame update7 Sep 2026Keybinding FixNumpad 7 and Numpad 1 were not working for some players. The cause was leftover keybindings from the northwest and southwest movement directions, which were removed a few updates ago — the directions were gone, but the old key mappings were still in saved settings and were overriding the new up/down bindings. Old keybindings are now cleared automatically on load. If you previously had to reset…
