Career Mode Progress Update #2

What's Taking So Long

The excitement for the Career mode has been eye opening to say the least. The original release target was realistic and we were on track to deliver. However, based on your comments and suggestions I deemed it necessary to expand on what we already had in favor of delivering an experience that is more in line with player expectations.

The foundation on which Infinite is built has always been the community and I aim to keep it that way. Keep those suggestions coming!

I don't have an estimated release window at this time but I will continue to share these progress reports leading up to the release so you can see the progression in real time. I will say that I don't intend to keep everyone waiting longer than necessary.

What's Being Worked On?

The big focus in this moment, honing in the primary gameplay loop. Ensuring the experience is fun and exciting every step of the way. A lot of the pieces have been built over the past year, now its all about giving the backend systems a face and tying it all together.

Something Cool!

With the delayed release I found it to be the perfect opportunity to do something awesome and get the community involved directly!

About a month ago we opened up applications (Now Closed) to become a draftable and playable character in game. We currently have over 100+ real players inserted into the career mode, from D5 to Pro, ready to be drafted to your team!

Manage Your Team

Last time I wasn't able to share the Team Manager UI, now that we have everything squared away here it is! This is where you will manage your roster and apply skill points to your players

Apply Skill Points earned through winning tournaments

Lineup Manager

While not a full blown breakout manager in this stage you can adjust your lineup as you please. Send your fastest player into the snake, maybe you have a good communicator relaying info from the home bunker to both sides of the field, it's all up to you!

Choose your Lineup prior to each point. Your choices are preserved should you wish to not make any changes for the next point

Choose what player you wish to take possession of on the breakout

What's Next

The overall goal for this month is to complete the core gameplay loop, which includes designing more UI elements for gameplay feedback and displaying info, sound effects for all the new UI and UI animations, smoothing out transitions between matches and more.

Everything related to the career mode has been built as modular as possible. This means once the core loop is complete, the process of adding the rest of the events on the event calendar will be smooth sailing.

What comes after that is lots of testing, making sure the pace of each match feels good, also ensuring XP and skill points are earned at a balanced and fair rate.
