Hey everyone!
We just published our first proper devlog on the Skroyder Rumble website, where we break down how the game loop actually works.
*If this flow chart seems confusing, don't worry. We'll explain...
The quick version is:
You enter an arena > survive enemy waves > collect resources > upgrade your character > unlock the next Boss Fight > try to defeat that Boss to move forward.
Each level is divided into 3 Acts, and each Act is built around two main parts:
Gauntlets, where you fight through chaotic enemy waves.
And Boss Fights, where you face a unique big baddie with its own attack patterns, animations, and rewards.
The idea is to mix handcrafted combat challenges with just a bit of unpredictability. Waves are designed carefully, so players can learn and master them, but each Round can shuffle which Waves appear and even let you choose what comes next.
We also talk a little bit about Cardboard Mode, which is our current name for the system that lets you rematch unlocked Bosses without replaying all the Gauntlets every time.
Yes. Cardboard boss skins!
The full post goes into more detail about how Waves, Rounds, Gauntlets, Acts, Bosses, and progression all connect together.
You can read the full devlog here.
And if you like what we’re making, please consider wishlisting Skroyder Rumble. It helps us a lot and lets Steam know that people want to see more of our weird little boss-fighting banana-powered chaos.
