Since launch players have asked for one feature above all others, that feature was base building. Hearthfire is the biggest NEOLITHIC DAWN update so far, transforming the game with a brand new base building system. Cut down trees, harvest tusks from mammoths, place blueprints, and construct a variety of shelters from teepees to longhouses. Whether playing survival or story mode, co-op or solo, you can now construct your camp anywhere in the world and return back to it across multiple generations.
Hearthfire also includes a number of improvements and bug fixes, including but not limited to:
Grass burning effects when you drag a torch across the ground
AI improvements and more realistic priority sorting
New areas to discover in each map with environmental storytelling
Quick tool is now grabbed using the trigger instead of the grip button so its more reliable to take out your backpack or weapon with intent
Toggle Grip can be disabled from the in-game menu (some players found the "sticky" grip that would keep an item in your hand on a quick button press confusing)
You can install the update right now by opting in to Public Betas for NEOLITHIC DAWN. You can opt out at any time, but this gives you first access to all future updates before they release to the public.
Opt in to the Public Beta by following these steps below:
Open the Steam desktop client and go to your Library.
Right-click Neolithic Dawn in your games list and choose Properties.
In the sidebar, click Betas (or Game Versions & Betas, depending on your Steam version).
Under Beta Participation, open the dropdown and select public-beta.
Close the Properties window. Steam will download the beta build automatically. Once it's done, launch the game normally.
Thank you for continuing to support NEOLITHIC DAWN, we hope you enjoy building your bases in the Hearthfire Beta and look forward to hearing your feedback.
