Hey there, Racers!

As we gear up for an epic autumn, we wanted to share some of the incredible energy and improvements coming to RENNSPORT. We're sticking to our promise from earlier this summer: this series is all about our partnership. We've been diving deep into the surveys you filled out, and today we're celebrating what you love and showing you exactly how we're leveling up based on your expert input!

With the Touring Classics Part 1 DLC out in the wild since the early summer, our team has been buzzing while reviewing your responses. Your feedback is the fuel for our development engine, and these insights are helping us build the ultimate racing experience together.

We received 351 detailed entries from the community: each one a valuable perspective on where RENNSPORT is already winning and, more importantly, where we have the biggest opportunities to grow and surprise you.

The overall vibe is positive, with 73.8% (259 drivers) giving us a big thumbs up! For the 26.2% (92 drivers) who pointed out where things can get better, we see those as our most important missions. We’re taking those points of growth and turning them into our top priorities.

Consoles in general (and PS5 in particular) continue to dominate the representation of responses, with 69.2 percent (243) of the total number of respondents, followed by PC at 30.8 percent (108 respondents).

It’s fantastic to hear that the majority of you feel the soul of our driving model and love the historical additions to the grid. At the same time, we're listening closely to the quarter of our community calling for a more reliable experience. We're on it, and we have a new update titled Kings of the Ring targeted for release already in September!

The road ahead looks bright. Let’s jump into the specific categories you’ve highlighted: every one of these is a chance for us to evolve. Let’s start with the wins!

Content Delivery Must Match Reliability

The Touring Classics expansion demonstrated that our team can deliver an authentic racing atmosphere. Drivers widely praised the aggressive mechanical nature of the cars and the technical precision of the new circuit layouts.

Yet, visual and mechanical craftsmanship can only carry the experience so far if the technical foundation falters. Console pilots on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have reported stability issues, including crashes and frame stutters, which we recognize as a significant barrier to immersion.

Delivering high-calibre content into an unstable environment damages our players' trust.

Maintaining your trust requires that our high-caliber content is supported by a stable environment. Beyond general performance, your feedback pointed toward a specific need for better discipline within the simulation itself, starting with the solo experience.

Top 5 topics asked by our players:

The top issues our community listed in the order of importance (number of people who highlighted the issues):

01 // AI Issues
02 // Wheel Support Effects & FFB
03 // The Cockpit Experience
04 // Audio Issues
05 // Expanded Multiplayer Limits

An interesting early reflection compared to the previous survey is that the general feedback has shifted away from us wanting to prioritize content, to improving the overall experience of the game. So let’s go through each topic, in order of importance according to you!

01 // Artificial Intelligence Issues

RENNSPORT’s single-player mode has received extensive feedback, particularly regarding the tactical discipline of AI competitors. We understand that in this category, the quality of competition lives or dies by the intelligence of the AI-driven competitors.

Current artificial intelligence routines exhibit erratic trajectory changes, poor spatial awareness, and unprovoked contact that ruins immersion and the overall experience of our single-player sessions.

To rectify this, we are reallocating extra resources to refine AI awareness. But technical discipline isn't just about how the cars around you move, it's also about how you feel and hear the car beneath you.

The Quest for Smart Racing & Zero Stupidity

Our lead programmer Rikard and his team have made it their top priority to fundamentally improve the driving experience versus AI competitors. Our immediate goal for the upcoming Kings of the Ring update in September is to establish a robust, reliable new baseline.

In plain terms, our design target is simple: we want to eradicate the major instances of erratic behavior, such as random mid-straights braking, inexplicable stops, and blind collisions.

While AI tuning is an ongoing journey that will continue well beyond September, this upcoming update represents a step toward smart racing and zero stupidity. More detailed breakdowns will follow in future patch notes.

02 // Wheel Support Effects & Force Feedback

While survey feedback indicates that our handling physics made clear progress in Touring Classics - Part 1, we recognize that our weak hardware support for certain wheel models results in inconsistent force feedback .

Reproducing these issues requires testing across a wide range of hardware and platforms, an effort we are actively prioritizing. We have already made initial progress for the upcoming update, specifically addressing the feedback regarding overly soft response on Logitech wheels. These improvements should lead to a stronger, more consistent and detailed response across all platforms. While this is an important step toward ensuring RENNSPORT supports a wide variety of rigs, we are committed to making further enhancements in future updates.

03 // The Cockpit Experience Needs Improvement

Inside the car, concerns have centered on hard dark contrast in low light, low-resolution rearview mirrors and edge aliasing. We also hear your calls for more intuitive UI, deeper telemetry for your external hardware, and native VR support to achieve true spatial immersion.

Building a better simulation means reinforcing these core structures. Rather than rushing raw features into production, our upcoming updates will focus on fortifying this infrastructure to support the competitive environment you expect.

Some of the next steps focus on improving the visual experience in hard shadows shown during the dusk and dawn, as well as whilst driving during the night. What that means, concretely, is that we’ve done a lot of work to make improvements to the dynamic range during high-contrast lighting conditions, as well as improve the highlight beams so they illuminate larger sections of the road and not just the immediate road ahead of you.

This will improve the driving experience during these conditions significantly.

On top of this we are also looking into all of the issues you’ve mentioned, and some progress has been made. However, these improvements will arrive in a later update.

04 // Audio Issues

Audio is your primary connection to the powertrain, yet feedback suggests that while some vehicle profiles land well, others are perceived as "thin" or "synthetic."

We are also actively investigating reports of "audio freezes", specifically on Xbox, where sound drops out or locks up. Improvements are in the pipeline and will be deployed in an upcoming update.

Regarding overall sound quality, we hear you. While audio preference is subjective, we are reviewing your feedback to refine our profiles. For now, our priority is ensuring that upcoming car additions launch with high-fidelity audio, so you won’t see significant general audio enhancements in the next immediate update.

05 // Expanded Multiplayer Limits

Another feedback we’ve seen is that some of you feel that multiplayer lobbies remain “too constrained” by a strict 12-driver limit. Discussions are around thin online fields, especially during certain times per day.

We have discussed this internally, and having custom contests is a feature we are proud to have added. Their presence in RENNSPORT, for free, in the present form is something many of our players have come to enjoy. We understand that you would want to increase the player counts, and the time limits. However, there are not enough numbers filling the current lobbies for the feedback to match the reality.

Currently, we have no plans for the rest of the year to add more players nor increased time limits to the custom contests with the current number of players participating in online races. We are however open to do some community testing with bigger fields in the future.

Development Priorities For the Future

We have multiple updates planned for the remainder of the year. The choices we have made are based on your feedback, but we also need to take this platform to the next step, so our plans also concern the long term vision for RENNSPORT.

This also effectively means that we will do some changes in our planning schedule (more on that later in this article) here are the main things we’re working on, most of which are based on the points you brought up for us:

  • AI Behavioural Discipline: Overhauling spatial awareness logic to eliminate reckless contact and establish predictable racing lines.

  • FFB and wheel support (especially on consoles): Quick setups working across hardware, and reliable FFB feedback that works across brands.

  • Platform Stability: Executing targeted bug fixes to eliminate console crashes, memory leaks, and frame stutters.

  • The Driver Journey: Restructuring the onboarding flow, refining reward systems, and introducing meaningful progression loops for long-term track time.

The goal is to have all of this in place before the end of the year through multiple updates. But this is not all! We also have a list of more content that will also be added: multiple tracks, track layouts, and cars that expand upon most of our existing car classes.

Kings of the Ring DLC

Our next update on the horizon is Kings of the Ring, which is currently in the process of being quality tested by our team.

The update will include the Nürburgring Nordschleife, as well as three new cars. Also a plethora of bug fixes, better overall FFB wheel support, and by the community the most requested improvement, AI.

Kings of the Ring will also take the AI to the next step, with noticeable improvements to the behavior of the AI-drivers. More details to come, including the release date in the upcoming patch notes!

Reprioritisation of Modding

Our original plan was to have shown you the minimum viable product of our mod support by now. However, the feedback we received from you painted a clear picture: the core game experience needs to be improved before we dedicate development time on adding mod support. We’re a small studio with limited resources, so we have to take one priority at a time.

This means that, effectively, the updates for most of the rest of the year will focus on getting the core game experience into a much better state: to release the cars and tracks that the content team has worked on, and to make sure that the flow of the driver journey from new players to our veterans feels a lot better, is more clear and intuitive, and rewarding.

We still have ambitious goals for RENNSPORT for the remainder of the year, and look forward to meeting you all at SimRacing Expo 2026 in Frankfurt to tell you more about it!
