first minor version bump. there's a few changes here that aren't backwards compatible (keybinds, chart format) and there's bunch of features here so we're advancing to v0.2.0
as a result of the new chart structure, scores have been reset. with the new format, scores will not be reset in case of difficulty adjustments or group changes, only in the case that the notes of the chart change. ideally this is the last full reset before release but we'll see how it goes.
there is now a lobby screen before your play starts. invite your friends (up to 2) to play a song together in co-op (different difficulties) or head-to-head in vs (same difficulty).
this is also where you can add your slapper characters to play along with.
there will be more refinements to this process in the future, so consider this a first draft of this feature.
online players, sessions, and friends are viewable by clicking the "ONLINE" text at the bottom right
after playing around with some ideas, i decided to add three new input methods. each with their own feel of the game, enough so that they warranted separate ratings and leaderboards. you can change your current input method in the settings menu
can use buttons and joysticks on a controller, however the best method here is actually a steam controller or steam deck. native trackpad support has been added with haptic feedback based on hit rating. all 6 lanes are hittable on each trackpad, effectively replacing your hands with thumbs.
for those looking for a more familiar experience, you can use an external phone or tablet to in place of keyboard. separate app available on the slapTrax discord, android only
can use a touch-screen device to tap directly on the lanes. for steam deck and potential future mobile release
a new lower difficulty has been added below BARE difficulty. since there is a lot of charting possibilities available in the game, i wanted to make those available to players outside of the higher difficulty SLAP! charts. even without swipe notes, there's still quite a bit of fun to be hand with cross-handing and percussive slaps. this new BABY difficulty will serve as the introductory difficulty, allowing BARE difficulty to range from medium to tougher charts. GLOVE difficulty will still serve as the introductory swipe charts and SLAP! will still remain the toughest, requiring players to fully utilize all techniques
the keybinding screen has undergone another revision. an autobind feature has been added which should help binding in most cases. multiple named profiles can now be saved as well as uploaded/downloaded from the game server.
previous keybinding profiles are no longer valid and will require rebinding!
players can now view the scores that compose their rating by clicking the rating number in the header
