Ever thought about placing an anime-style character statue in your sandbox world? Hey everyone, I’m A Su, producer of XenoHaven, the sandbox adventure RPG.
We shared our Steam Workshop progress with you last time, so today I want to walk you through exactly how to create a mod.
First, launch the game and click the Workshop button to open the mod creation tool. Select Create New Mod, enter your mod name and description, and upload an image to use as your Workshop thumbnail.
In the component editor, fill in the item’s name, type and other details. You can also freely choose which crafting station and materials are required to build it. Finish up by adding the in-game item icon and preview images.
Upload your finished mod to the Workshop, follow the redirect and subscribe to your own mod. When you relaunch the game, you’ll see your mod listed in the Workshop menu — just check the box to enable it and wait for the game to restart.
You can then craft your custom item at the crafting station you set up, and place it anywhere in the world you like. Right now, players can customize chests, buildings and production line visuals, and we’ll be expanding support to more moddable item types down the line — stay tuned!
We’d love to hear what you think: does the mod creation process feel accessible enough? Feel free to drop your thoughts or suggestions in the comments. Steam Workshop and LAN multiplayer will both launch with the 1.0 full release, and we’re now in the final stretch of development to get there.
If you’re interested in the game, please consider adding XenoHaven to your Steam Wishlist — it truly means a lot to our small team. Thank you so much, and see you in the next dev lo
