Demo version 0.4.0: Egg Physics adjustments

Hi everyone,

I’ve been reading the feedback from players who have been trying the demo over time, and I felt it was the right moment to make some adjustments and balance a few mechanics related to the egg physics.

Several players have mentioned that the egg launch physics felt unfair at times, so I’ve implemented some changes with the main goal of addressing this issue.

What has changed in version 0.4.0

Egg physics and health system

In previous versions, the egg had 11 health stages, from fully intact to completely cracked and dark. I now realize this was a bit excessive and not very intuitive, so I’ve reduced it to 6 stages.

Previously, every hit would progressively send the egg flying farther, regardless of whether the collision was strong or just a light bump. This meant that when the egg was heavily damaged, even the smallest touch could launch it very far, which often felt unfair.

In the new version, I’ve kept the idea of increasing instability as the egg cracks, so each damage stage still makes it more volatile and increases the force of impacts. However, I’ve added an additional parameter: collision speed. Light touches or gentle bumps now result in significantly reduced impact, while stronger collisions apply almost full force.

Additionally, the egg starts in a very stable state when healthy, firmly attached to the nest, but with each crack its stability and level of attachment gradually decrease.

Other improvements

  • Pan hits now have different sound effects depending on the force of the impact.

  • Fire particles now vary in spread and duration depending on impact strength.

  • Tutorial signs have been improved and are now fully translated into all supported languages.

  • Two additional tutorial signs have been added at the beginning of the game to better explain the egg and pan systems.

  • Collision with tree leaves has been reduced.

Please note that these changes are not necessarily final. I’m constantly iterating based on your feedback and on what I believe will provide the best experience for all types of players. Feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, or let me know if you prefer the previous behavior.

That’s all for this update. A much larger announcement with new content will be coming soon.

Thank you to everyone supporting the game, it truly means a lot.

Have a great day,
Adri
