Steam Deck compatibility plans

GIANT ROBOT GAME · published 11 Sep 2026, 08:21 UTC

Hey there,

GIANT ROBOT GAME works well on Linux, so it'll show up as compatible with the Steam Deck (a Linux machine) but I want to make it clear that the game currently assumes keyboard & mouse.

So, while you can technically play the game on a Steam Deck, in practice, you will want to use a laptop or a workstation.

This may change in the future. I've often thought it might be fun to play the game using a controller. But I can't promise anything, since that'll need careful experimentation and probably major differences between mouse+keyboard gameplay and controller gameplay.

That being said, if you wishlisted this game hoping for playing it on a Steam Deck, please tell me!

News6 Dec 2025GIANT ROBOT GAME Playtest in full swingGIANT ROBOT GAME has been making a lot of progress these past few month. (At least from my perspective — I get that the pace is glacial when viewed from outside.) I have opened the Playtest to public: anyone can join and will immediately get access to the Beta of the game. There's still a lot of work but here's what I've added recently: · Radioactivity · Proper trading · Walking through houses…Community11 Nov 2024Getting ready for public playtestingAs part of this week's Czech & Slovak Games Week (a Steam and GOG.com event celebrating games from my home country), GIANT ROBOT GAME is featured here on Steam. I recorded a short segment in which I explain the game and my plans. In short, I plan on releasing a public playtest in the next few weeks or months, and go from there. I want to get the game into a state where it's well-tested, fun and…Community31 May 2024May 2024 updateI just recorded a silent video update that shows some of the current functionality of the game. It's far from polished, as I'm trying not to spend too much time on marketing at this point. But at least there are subtitles that point out the kinds of things I wanted you to notice. NOTE: There is no sound . This is by design as the audio of the game is currently in flux. -- Filip
