First off: huge THANK YOU to everyone playing, messaging me and leaving reviews. The reviews especially are a massive help. ❤️
It has been a while since the last Update, but rest assured I haven't been slacking. One thing that has been getting some extra love is the modding framework and API.
I really did not expect the modding scene to go this hard this fast. There are already over 125 mods and some of the stuff people are making is completely wild: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2764460/workshop/
With these many things already being built, it feels like the right time to make sure the API is headed in the right direction. I've pushed the updated modding framework to a new 0.5.5 experimental branch together with a completely new API doc that can be found here: https://sandustry.com/sandkit.html
Quick note: mods currently require you to opt into a separate experimental Steam branch. However, since a lot of mods haven't been updated yet I've split the experimental branches into two for backward compatibility: 0.5.2 and 0.5.5. The mods branch will stay on 0.5.2 until modders have had some time to update their mods.
Modding support is still very much work in progress and it will be a bit of a bumpy road until the API is stable, so I'm sorry if things feel messy right now.
Work on 0.5.6 continues with the focus still on fixing bugs, improving stability, optimizing performance and working through requested features. There’s still a lot I want to fix in the current game and I don't want to start piling new content on top until the foundation feels solid. If you have an idea, request or suggestion make sure to post it on https://sandustry.nolt.io/
