How The Coalition and NVIDIA are Building Gears of War: E-Day for PC

At XBOX and The Coalition, our goal for Gears of War: E-Day is simple: deliver the most visceral and technically ambitious Gears of War to date — whether you prefer to play on a console or on PC. Built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, E-Day is being optimized across a broad range of PC hardware. Today, we’re excited to announce our partnership with NVIDIA to make that vision a reality.

As the exclusive PC partner of Gears of War: E-Day, NVIDIA is collaborating closely with XBOX and The Coalition to enhance the game’s PC experience through deep integration with GeForce RTX technologies, performance optimization, and launch support. From the earliest stages of development through release, this partnership is focused on delivering a first-class PC experience, while the game continues to be optimized across a wide range of hardware.

Pushing Visual Boundaries with DirectX and RTX Technology

Gears of War: E-Day represents a return to the franchise’s origins — grounded in emotional storytelling, brutal combat, and cinematic scale. Bringing that world to life on PC requires pushing the boundaries of graphics technology.

E-Day will support advanced rendering features through DirectX, including hardware raytracing alongside NVIDIA RTX features and optimizations that elevate lighting, environments, and overall detail. Built for Performance

For Gears of War: E-Day, delivering responsive, fluid gameplay is just as important as visual fidelity. Through our broader PC optimization work and with support from NVIDIA, PC players can expect a game that plays as good as it looks; whether you’re playing on a high-end, enthusiast desktop rig or a mainstream spec machine. 

To help deliver on that promise, we’ve integrated NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and Super Resolution, along with NVIDIA Reflex. Combined, these features deliver players increased frame rates, improved image quality, reduced latency and enhanced input responsiveness.

Broad Optimization

Gears of War: E-Day is optimized for both performance and fidelity across a wide range of hardware. In addition to supporting cutting-edge rendering features from NVIDIA, E-Day will also support AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, Intel XeSS and Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) on compatible hardware.

ASD enables precompiled shaders to be delivered alongside the game, significantly reducing load times and eliminating first‑run shader stutter on compatible systems. ASD will be available across supported PC storefronts, including the Microsoft Store and XBOX PC app, with broader hardware and storefront support expanding over time.
