Seafarer: The Ship Sim · published
A big milestone is approaching: Seafarer: The Ship Sim will leave Early Access and launch into Full Release on September 24, 2026!
On the same day, Seafarer will also set sail on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
For us here on Steam, however, September 24 is first and foremost about reaching the end of our Early Access journey – and celebrating the Full Release of Seafarer: The Ship Sim. 💙
Before we look back at how far we have come, check out the announcement trailer:
When we first announced Seafarer: The Ship Sim, we introduced our vision for a maritime experience that lets you discover different sides of life at sea – from navigating vessels and handling cargo to completing missions and building your own career.
When Seafarer later launched into Early Access on Steam, that journey was only beginning.
Since then, the game has grown through several major content updates, new features, additional missions, and changes to existing systems.
Throughout Early Access, we also received a lot of feedback from the community across Steam, Discord, reviews, and our social channels.
During Early Access, Seafarer received five major content updates.
The LNG & Bulk Update was the first major stop on that journey, adding the Big Trip for large-scale container shipping, as well as the Bulk Willy and Nordic Duchess for bulk cargo and LNG operations. New missions also expanded the range of cargo activities available at sea.
The Rescue Update reinforced the Tide Guard with Salvation and Grace, two new police ships, and introduced rescue operations alongside an overhaul of inspection gameplay.
The Immersion Update reworked the first three campaign chapters and introduced new features including the radio, daily challenges, and changes to inspections.
The Career Update expanded the career side of Seafarer with the Free Trade system, Reputation, work shifts, new campaign chapters, drone operations, deck cleaning, and further additions to existing systems.
And most recently, the Co-op Crew Update introduced multiplayer, allowing up to four players to operate the same vessel together across selected cargo operations, firefighting missions, rescue missions, and more.
Across these five updates, Seafarer continued to grow from the version that first entered Early Access.
Early Access has given us the chance to share Seafarer with you while development was still ongoing.
Throughout that time, you have shared bug reports, suggestions, discussions, and feedback on the game and its updates.
A special thank you also goes to everyone who joined our beta branches and tested major updates ahead of their release on the default branch.
Whether you have been sailing with us since the beginning or joined somewhere along the way: thank you for being part of Seafarer's Early Access journey. 💙
September 24 will also mark the first time Seafarer: The Ship Sim becomes available on consoles.
The game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S alongside the Full Release on Steam.
Console pre-orders are available now.
With Full Release approaching, our Early Access journey is almost complete.
We are excited to reach this milestone and to bring Seafarer: The Ship Sim to Full Release on September 24. Until then, the game will remain available at its current Early Access price, before changing to €29.99 with Full Release.
So if you have been thinking about joining us before we leave Early Access, now is a good time to come aboard.
