Ossu!

After weeks of testing we’re happy to inform that the long awaited multiplayer update for JDM: Japanese Drift Master is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 16!

Console players will now  be able to form parties of up to 8 players in the lobby and enjoy the full cross platform connectivity between consoles and PC, bringing JDM fans closer together regardless of their device of choice.

Similar to the current PC version of the game, players will have the full open world at their disposal, where they can show off their cars and cruise around the fictional prefecture of Guntama. There are also 15 events awaiting more competitive play, beginning with grip and drift races and ending with 1 vs. 1 touge challenges.

With this update we are also introducing 2 new touge challenges for both PC and console players alike: the Tofuna Downhill and Uphill grip races.

Economy Rebalance

Alongside the multiplayer update, we’re introducing an economy rebalance to the game, increasing the money rewards gained from any source by roughly 30 percent and doubling the reputation with each completed activity. The changes are meant to speed up the process of obtaining new cars and unlocking new parts for tuning experimentation.

The new economy system will launch across all platforms with this update.

FSO Polonez

Last but not least, the game’s roster will expand with the free addition of the legendary Polish car - FSO Polonez. It might not be a JDM car, however its importance for Polish culture may be as big as the AE86 was for Japan. The legacy of Polonez lives to this day and as a way to prolong its heritage and pay homage to its classic status, we’re bringing it to the game alongside three very distinct body kits representing the diverse faces the car took in its primetime.

You can read up more on the car in our previous DEVLOG.

What’s Next?

The next step for the team is to bring the livery system to the game, finally allowing you to create unique designs that will make you stand out from the crowd. The system is still under development, but it’s rapidly nearing completion and we will have more information on its details very soon!
