Commanders, the 3.0.0 major update is now live!
Our top priority in this update is reducing the stuttering reported by players. We have focused on expedition movement, node progression, combat cleanup, saving and Steam Cloud synchronization. The camp, Sky City, inventory, runes and Nightmare builds have also received a substantial update.
Below are the full update notes for Windows 3.0.0.
Main focus: stuttering and performance
- Optimized expedition movement, node transitions, the end of combat and cleanup to reduce sudden pauses during progression.
- Moved time-consuming cloud-save validation and synchronization work to asynchronous processing to reduce interruptions to gameplay.
- Improved checks and retries when cloud storage is full or synchronization fails, avoiding repeated expensive work that can cause periodic stutters.
- Optimized inventory paging, equipment lookups and UI refreshes to reduce unnecessary calculations with larger inventories.
- Adjusted desktop-window frame pacing to improve smoothness during continued play.
A refreshed camp and Sky City
- Redesigned the main menu as a nighttime camp with idle animations for all five classes, and updated the styling of save selection, settings, the lounge and related screens.
- Reworked Sky City's scene and service entrances, with clouds, street details, small animals, caravans and trade activity cues.
- Updated the town market and exchange interfaces, service information and interaction feedback.
- Added ingredient combinations, meal previews and cooking to the food workshop.
- Improved training trials and squad evaluation, including results for different challenges and trial records.
- Updated library ascension, reforging and town-development presentations to make progression more visible.
Expedition routes and departures
- Updated the strategic world map and pixel-style regional routes for clearer region selection, route states and progression.
- Added a strategic dispatch sequence and improved transitions between town, expeditions and returning home.
- Updated terrain extension, seasonal ground themes, scenery layers and decorations.
- Redesigned the top route bar: normal expeditions display region and route information, while Nightmare displays floors and the tower chronicle, leaving more room for combat.
- Improved node-settlement timing and feedback so results remain readable before the next node begins.
Inventory expansion and weapon billets
- Expanded the backpack to a maximum of 10 pages, with updated page navigation, filters, lock indicators and item cards.
- Redesigned inventory buttons, tabs and tooltips, improving text readability and addressing panel overflow and route-bar overlap in small windows.
- Added sword and spear billet management. Eligible common white weapons can be smelted into corresponding billets, which do not occupy regular inventory slots.
- Improved billet counts, forging-power information, smelting controls and consumption feedback, with protection for equipped, locked and otherwise ineligible weapons.
- Updated enhancement, combining, dismantling and related equipment panels.
Runes, skills and combat feedback
- Refreshed the permanent rune tree with camp-style visuals, node connections and progression information.
- Fixed the rune ascension target changing when the pointer passed over other nodes. Clicking a node now locks the selected target.
- Added audio feedback for rune hover, selection, unlocks, ascension and rejected actions.
- Added weapon-billet skill presentations, including the gathering, release and impact effects of the enhanced sword and spear attacks.
- Updated badges for all ten hero ascension ranks, title colors and ascension effects.
- Updated boss health bars, elite entrances and spawn warnings, and adjusted ordinary enemies' overhead information for clearer combat.
- Fixed some skills attempting to access targets or nodes that had already been removed during multi-frame actions.
Nightmare builds and the tower chronicle
- Refined Nightmare's 10-floor build cycles, making the start and progression of each new cycle clearer.
- Added a tower chronicle for reviewing your climbing journey and related records.
- Updated Nightmare scenery, the top information display and build-growth feedback.
- Redesigned build-shop cards, rarity information, lock states and long descriptions, with improved two-column and scrolling layouts for small windows.
- Added audio for purchases, rerolls, locking, build-point gains, reaching stack caps and effect activation, while reducing overlapping sounds during rapid interactions.
- Improved timed-item countdowns, build reward notifications and the return-to-town entrance.
Returning to town and party-wipe rules
- Returning from a safe camp banks your carried expedition gold.
- Withdrawing after a node, while waiting to choose the next route, loses 25% of carried expedition gold and banks the remainder, then returns you to the current act's entrance.
- An emergency retreat during combat forfeits carried expedition gold and the current node reward, then returns you to the act's entrance.
- The loss rate for unbanked carried expedition gold on a party wipe is now 100%. Return prompts show the corresponding banked and lost amounts, so pay attention to your current expedition state.
Windows, guidance and save experience
- Improved small-window layouts across the inventory, settings, leaderboards, lounge, town services, build shop and reward dialogs.
- Fixed delayed updates to the settings page's scroll range that could prevent access to content at the bottom.
- Improved loading feedback when continuing a game, loading the world and switching scenes.
- Adjusted tutorial targets and entrances, and filled in localized text for town, skills and several interfaces.
- Improved Steam Cloud status messages to distinguish active synchronization, pending synchronization and insufficient space.
- Retained cloud-save validation, backup and recovery safeguards, with improved handling of exceptional conditions.
Release scope
This 3.0.0 update applies to Windows. macOS remains on its existing version for now.
The new overnight-idle statistics, automatic restart, idle goals and return-preparation features are still being refined and are not included in this release. Existing automatic combat, expeditions and offline rewards remain available. The unfinished farm gameplay is not open in this release.
Thank you for your feedback and support! We will continue following up on performance and issues encountered during play.
If you still experience noticeable stuttering, please share where it happens, your PC specifications and your game version in the discussions. If Steam has not started the update, try restarting Steam and checking your download queue.
