I'm super excited and a little nervous you can finally play my game for the first time today!
A mini campaign with 8 stages (includes 2 tutorials, 1 jam stage)
5 full songs
4 difficulty levels
3 environments
2 power-ups: Slowdown and Track Swap
Free Play mode
Remappable controls for keyboard and gamepad
English & German localization (more languages can eventually be provided in an update)
Then your best bet is to join the Newsletter as well as the Discord server! Future playtests and important updates will be posted there first. Following the Beat Weaver steam page (which is a separate button from wishlisting) is another option to get updates.
How long is the demo?
Some stats from recent limited playtests:
- Players often spent up to an hour completing the demo campaign for the first time
- The average total play time was around 3 hours
- Some players spent over 20 hours in the demo :)
Where can I find more of the music in the demo?
Check out Nellative and Red Vox on the web and support them, for example on Bandcamp!
The remaining songs are original compositions I made specifically for Beat Weaver. They will eventually be released in some standalone format. For the time being, experience them in interactive form within the game.
Can I play this with a guitar controller or other custom controllers?
If it can pretend to be a keyboard then yes! Keep in mind that Beat Weaver is primarily designed for gamepad and keyboard so please use a more conventional input method for your first session to have the best gameplay experience.
Certain newer guitar controllers, when set to Mode 3, map well to the "Marshall" gamepad preset ;)
Is there a classic score attack mode?
Score attack modes are planned. There will be numbers and they will go up!
Will demo progress transfer to the release?
Your skills definitely will and there's a lot to explore! The full game's campaign mode will be structured a little differently so progress will not transfer.
Can I stream or share videos from the demo?
Yes, you can stream the game and post your runs anywhere. The music contained in the demo should not trigger any copyright claims.
Where do I report crashes, bugs or give general feedback?
If the game crashes you will be presented with a crash report window. There you can add a comment to describe for example what happened just before the crash.
For bugs and general feedback you can either use the Steam forums or the official Discord server. Please check first if the issue you're reporting already has a thread.
I'll do my best to stay on top of all the feedback but please understand that this is a solo-developed game :)
What about custom songs?
Those will be supported in the full release and there will be a guide for authoring them. More news on that in the future.
