🦊howdy! coming at you today with a new update to Fox Stamps which aims to address the popular requests and pain points that were also easy to fix. Thank you everyone so far for the feedback! There's been a lot of feedback that we can't really address right away, but we wanted to at least get these out there. Everyone thank Coco the red panda for coming out with all these fixes in a single day

Here are the patch notes:

===== IMPORTANT =====

  • Save file versioning has been updated. Save files from this version wont work in previous versions.

===== NEW =====

  • A new option has been added to "Filter Marks" called "Cell Guard", which will only allow you to change what's in a cell if you press the same button that corresponds with the existing mark (if there's a mark already there.) This should prevent accidental marks you didn't mean.

  • For clarity, the option "Line Guard" matches the behavior of the old Filter Marks when it was on, and "None" matches the behavior when it was off.

  • Your existing setting should be upgraded to the new setting, but please double check it just in case.

  • You may now disable the "Line Lock" function if you just want to be able to place marks wherever you like.

  • Since we didn't have more than one in-game song ready in time for the demo, but people were getting tired of there just being one song, several familiar placeholder songs have been added. They will be removed as actual songs are implemented.

  • Because Ashe asked me (Coco) while I was implementing the songs, the unfinished songs are also in the game. She said you can't get mad about if they're bad because they're clearly marked as unfinished.

  • There is a random mode which will pick one song to play for that puzzle, and a shuffle mode that will go through a list of songs that's shuffled at the start of each puzzle. (You'll get multiple songs per-puzzle if you are on the same puzzle for long enough.)

  • The music controls will be improved later, allowing you to skip and exclude specific songs, but we just wanted to get something to help in the meantime.

===== IMPROVED =====

  • While you were able to skip the tutorial in the previous version, there was no on-screen prompt showing that you could press the pause button (and therefore nothing you could click on if you were using the mouse.) Now there is one in the top left corner while the tutorial is active.

  • The game will now ask you if you want to view the tutorial when picking the tutorial puzzle on the stage select screen. It wont ask you again if you restart the puzzle, but will ask you again if you solve it or abandon it and then start again.

===== BUG FIXES =====

  • "Save Puzzle" will no longer show for the tutorial puzzle, as you're not allowed to save that one anyways.

  • Fixed a bug where the flag set for when a puzzle was restarted was not cleared in certain situations.

  • Fixed a bug where the "Line Lock" functionality wouldn't let you stop and change direction on gamepad/keyboard if you weren't marking in a long line.

  • Fixed a bug where Whisker Sleuth/Dream Viewer would not be disabled in the Fox Support menu if the function wouldn't work in the given puzzle state anyways.

===== NOTES =====

  • Key/gamepad input remapping wont be available until the full game is done, due to the fact that we may be changing inputs/adding/removing them at any time.

  • Mouse controls are functional but incomplete. Some parts of the game will still require keyboard in order to interact with them.

  • Almost all of Fox Stamps should be touchscreen capable, though we realize that the experience of doing this leaves a lot to be desired. We'll improve this more after the demo.

===== KNOWN BUGS =====

  • A handful of menus in the game have an issue where they'll draw incorrectly for a single frame. We'll be refactoring the menus in the future so this issue (and many more subtle ones) should be fixed then.
