I know that ever since the Shifting Sands DLC launched, "completeness" has been an unavoidable topic. So this time, we want to give Shifting Sands an endgame that feels both complete and substantial. This long journey across the "Shifting Sands" deserves an ending worthy of the adventure.
We're also honored to be taking part in Steam's PvE Survival Crafting Fest on September 1. Enjoy exploring unknown ruins with friends? you'll also be able to build a Floating Island of your very own together.
And if your friends aren't familiar with Soulmask yet, no problem. The latest Soulmask Demo is available on August 31! In the classic rainforest map, you can experience the game's core loop, from recruiting tribesmen to challenging tribal chiefs, completely free. Oh, and if you enjoy the game and decide to purchase the full version, your DEMO save can carry over directly, so you can continue your Soulmask journey right where you left off!
All right, that's enough chatter. Let's take a look at what "Beyond Gravity," the final piece completing Shifting Sands, will bring.
The weather here lives up to the region's name. It is utterly inhospitable to human life. Long ago, after rebels of the fallen dynasty in the "Shifting Sands" lost their uprising, the army drove them all the way into this scorched land. But those events no longer matter. The dynasty has long since fallen, the rebels have vanished without a trace, and all that remains today are deadly beasts roaming the wilds and Sand Bandits who have occupied the region for years.
The most important landmark is the final pyramid. It should have remained under the eternal protection of the [Death Sandstorm]. However, during the final battle between the "Betrayer," Desert Overlord Set, and the Falcon King, Set unleashed the [Death Sandstorm] as a weapon of war. Since then, the pyramid has stood without a guardian.
Now, a Sand Bandit chief has claimed the place as his lair. He and his colossal warship have entrenched themselves here, guarding the secrets deep within the pyramid. You can also don a Mask and take to the skies, thread your way through crossing cannon fire, land directly on the enemy ship, and bring the behemoth down from within...
*Maggie has to admit, it is a real thrill.
Deep within Burning Highland, beneath an unremarkable canyon, lies the last of the Holy Ruins. You have never even heard its name spoken by any barbarian.
This inverted, pyramid-shaped ruin houses a vast and highly complex teleportation network. To reach its deepest point, you must conquer four dungeons to the east, south, west, and north, each with its own challenges. Only by activating their mechanisms one by one can you open the central portal.
At the very bottom of the ruins, a mechanical being unlike anything you have ever seen sits upon a throne, waiting in silence. You might even call her "beautiful." But every weapon formed from her steel throne is more than capable of killing you. To defeat her, you will have to contend not only with a dizzying barrage of deadly moves, but also with the lethal poison gas that permeates the ruins.
Once she is defeated, beyond the gate she guards, you will obtain the [Enforcer] Mask. No record of this Mask has ever appeared in any other ruins, and its style is utterly unlike the others. Yet within it, you can feel a power pulsing from the same source as the Anti-Gravity Engine.
As we mentioned before, "Beyond Gravity" will introduce three brand-new Masks. In addition to the [Enforcer] above, you can claim the powers of two other deities from the Sand Bandit chiefs occupying the two pyramids.
[Shadow Hunter] The Mask of Bastet, the feline goddess, grants you the power of shadow and agility. Your dodges become more nimble, and while in Mimicry, you can summon a phantom Cats to assist your attacks. By hunting other creatures, you can replenish its summon charges more easily.
[Ruler of the Barren Sands] The Mask of Set. As the first deity to betray the Sun God, he commands the power of sandstorms. Enemies near the Mask wearer continuously take damage. While in Mimicry, the lower your HP, the greater your attack speed and sandstorm damage become. You can even summon a sandstorm that covers an entire area, weakening enemies across a wide range.
[Enforcer] You do not know where this mysterious Mask came from. Its innate gravity wave weakens all nearby enemies and grants you a power that shares its origin with the airship. While in Mimicry, it allows you to perform rapid, short-range spatial jumps on your own. You can even wield gravity like the gods themselves, lifting every barbarian in an entire camp into the air.
Three Masks mean three completely new playstyles. Pair [Shadow Hunter] with a dodge-focused build to dispatch enemies quickly; combine heavy armor and a large health pool with [Desert Overlord] to grow stronger as the fight intensifies; and as for [Enforcer], we'll leave its strange powers for you to discover.
Once you have claimed these new powers and made your preparations, [Consciousness X], your longtime companion, will guide you toward the final secret of the "Shifting Sands." High above you, deep in the sky, the "Sun God" awaits reactivation within that Floating Island.
Throughout your adventures across the world, you should already have acquired quite a few [Divine Crystal Fragments]. Ancient barbarian scrolls claim that these are pieces of the remains left behind after the "Betrayer," Set, killed the "Sun God." Once you have collected 14 fragments, you can recover what was once the Sun God's complete remains at a mysterious stone platform: the "Core Module."
At the lowest level of the Floating Island, within a vast chamber, activate the Core Module and you will finally see the true form of what has always been called the "Sun God." It is the source controlling every anti-gravity phenomenon and strange climate pattern across the "Shifting Sands," the "Central Core" of this world.
You do not know why it suddenly attacks you, but this battle against the Central Core is destined to be one of the most unforgettable experiences in Shifting Sands. Here, gravity and space are thrown completely into disarray. Amid waves of attacks and formidable holographic enemies, you must find a way to counter the Central Core.
I don't want to spoil too much here. This is the final battle that brings every story in Shifting Sands to its conclusion, and the endgame of your adventure in this world. The rest is yours to experience.
Of course, there is more. Anti-gravity technology has allowed the Consciousness to develop Floating Foundations, enabling you to build a Floating Island of your very own. There is also the Water Vapor Collector, a large device suspended in midair that can keep your clan supplied with water even without a well or river nearby.
As the final piece completing Shifting Sands, "Beyond Gravity" carries our deepest commitment. We hope to deliver the best content we can and make the world of the "Shifting Sands" feel truly complete, vivid, and compelling.
Our work to improve Soulmask will not stop here. After September, we will continue optimizing the game and strengthening its guidance systems.
And if you haven't joined us yet, don't forget that on August 31, you can start by trying the Demo!
See you again next Monday. Let's continue the adventure together!
