Greetings, warriors!

Most of us have, at least once, fantasised about what it would be like to be born into a rich and powerful family. Daydreamed of the power a noble's title brings, or how carefully people would choose their words around us. But to be born into Nippon's most privileged is to inherit more than wealth - it is to inherit expectations.

Hiroe has never had the luxury of being judged simply as herself. As the daughter of a powerful daimyō, her every achievement was expected, every mistake - accounted for. Every weakness - a spectre of tarnish upon her family's reputation. That blew Hiroe's ambition out of proportion, fostering a belief that she could overcome any obstacle.

Yet, Hiroe's arrogance does not stem from cruelty: it is merely the armour she donned, having learned to meet uncertainty with confidence and criticism with defiance. Fortunately for those around her, her heart has always been in the right place - harbouring a genuine desire to help those who cannot help themselves.

The road will take her far beyond the expectations of her upbringing, into a world where rank offers little protection and good intentions must be proven through action. She may have been born with a title, but what she does with it is up to her.

Today we take a look at the very beginning of our story: at Nippon being pulled apart by forces that seemingly cannot be reconciled, and the people caught between them - left to make do with a future they never asked for.
