Scalding September Tea: Price Announcement

Dearest Dressmakers,

Two weeks remain before the big day. I have been snooping around conducting investigative journalism, and have uncovered a very interesting tidbit: the anticipated price is to be $14.99, with regional pricing, and a -10% launch discount!

If you’ve heard the whispers about pricing, this is very much on the lower end of speculation – so what’s the catch? Are there microtransactions? Ads? Data harvesting? Is it slop? The odious work of generative AI? You would be forgiven for being suspicious. Many a fashion- or girly-game has sung sweet, siren songs of cozy feel-good theming, hiding the spiny, little teeth of exploitative monetization and dark patterns.

We don’t do that.

Sadly, the dev team cares too much about petty things like “player satisfaction”, “glowing reviews” and “leaving a positive impact on the world” than they do about much more tangible things like shares, stocks and the economy. So we’re selling Dressmaker — a game with story commissions of approximately 35 hours (excluding off-rack dresses), with over 150 dress pieces, over 450 fabrics and over 350 accessories, all made by hand (or digital drawing tablet) in-house, and with more free content and new features coming soon — for the same price as one of Free Lives’s first games from over 10 years ago that had a 6 hour story campaign. This is, quite frankly, no way to behave if one wants to get acquired, form an IPO, or get bonuses from shareholders. It’s almost as if nobody who works at this company has any business sense!

But seriously, we really hope that everyone who wants to play Dressmaker can afford to, and for those who can’t we’re planning some giveaways on our social media accounts and with content creator friends who will be helping us promote the game in the weeks to come.

Privately owned and in good conscience,

Team Dressmaker

Community31 Aug 2026Dressmaker August TeaDearest Dressmakers, I have heard jaded rumblings and whispered YouTube comments about how our launch date is 21 September “unless there are delays”. Indeed, if Dressmaker were to delay its launch date, it would not be the first game to do so. But a reliable source tells me that not only will the game's launch date be met, but that the game is already content complete. The credits have been com…Community28 Jul 2026Dressmaker July Tea: Launch Date AnnouncementDearest Dressmakers, A little pigeon has notified me that our niche indie game now has over 200,000 wishlists ! The little pigeon also told me that we finally have a launch date: 21 September 2026 ! The pigeon couldn't keep its beak shut, and also says that content creators who wish to sign up for an early build to make content under embargo can do so here . Sadly the pigeon was caught and cage…Community9 Jun 2026Dressmaker Just Hit 100k Wishlists!Dearest Dressmakers, When we first pitched Dressmaker, we were told that the game may be "too niche", that we shouldn't expect much, that we might struggle to find our audience. Well, it is with lifted pinkies, feigned modesty, and the politest smile that we say, "Why yes, we did surpass 100,000 wishlists. How nice of you to notice!" But we most certainly could not have done it alone. We're ver…
