Last Store on Earth · published

That's you — if you're here this early, you're not a customer, you're staff.
This is our very first post here. The store page has only been live for a few days, and seeing wishlists already coming in has been a huge boost — thank you. You're early, and we won't forget that.
King Island Studio is a one-person indie studio from Madrid, and Last Store on Earth is our first game: a survival shop sim where you restore the last store standing after the end of the world — and keep it alive for the survivors who still knock on your door.
Since this is the first update, let's get you up to speed on where things stand.
The official trailer is almost ready and will land in the coming days, right here and on our channels. It will be your first proper look at what the game is about.
A free demo is coming to Steam at the end of August or early September. It covers the opening of the game: you find a dead, dark store — and you bring it back.
In the demo you will:
A hands-on taste of the game's core mechanics.
Bring the power back to a store that's been dark for years
Repair wiring, pipes, ceiling and floor
Clean the windows, the puddles, the graffiti — all of it
Set up the counter, stock the shelves, and put your own name on the sign
Order supplies over the radio from a mysterious voice called Garcés
Open your doors and serve your first two customers — they have names, and they'll remember you
How long is it? That depends entirely on how you play. Our estimate is between 1 and 3 hours — rushing through the essentials or scrubbing every last window is your call.
The project is evolving at a very healthy pace. Our goal is to launch into Early Access with the most polished version we can possibly build — we'd rather show up late and solid than early and broken.
Between now and Early Access, we are open to absolutely everything: questions, doubts, criticism, requests, wild ideas. This game is being built listening, and the community's voice will genuinely shape it. Talk to us here in the Steam forums or join us on Discord:

Words are cheap, so here's something real: the first in-game footage of Last Store on Earth ever published. Two minutes of raw, unedited gameplay — no editing tricks, no polish pass. This is the look of the game right now.
What you're seeing is the angle grinder: some of the old furniture cluttering the store won't fit through the door in one piece, so you cut it down until it does. Cleaning up after the end of the world is hands-on work.
And this is just the first one: little by little we'll keep dropping more raw, unedited in-game footage of different mechanics — no cinematic angles, no editing tricks, just the game as it actually plays. If you want to watch this store come back to life piece by piece, stick around. If you like where this is going, a wishlist is the single most helpful thing you can do for a small studio — and it means you'll hear from us the moment the trailer and the demo drop.
Thank you for being here this early. It matters.
