Update v0.9.19 — Pixel Animation, Steam Cloud & Save Improvements

Bots to Mars · published

Bots to Mars v0.9.19 adds more life to your colony while keeping the original 16-bit sprite artwork and game balance.

Pixel animation

  • Owned bots now move through stepped idle poses.
  • Added hovering rockets, blinking status lights, and square exhaust particles.
  • Purchases get a short delivery bounce, and funding gets pixel sparks and a brief outline flash.
  • New sprite effects pause with the game and respect reduced-motion preferences.

Steam Cloud and save improvements

  • Added Steam Cloud saving and startup restore when Cloud is enabled for your Steam account and the game.
  • When this device and Steam have different missions, you can choose which one to continue. Both versions are backed up locally before replacement.
  • Added clearer Cloud status, ordered save writes, and a previous-file disk backup.
  • Normal window closing waits for pending saves.
  • Invalid save imports preserve your current mission, and the Save button now reports storage failures correctly.

Shop and interface

  • Producer cards show progress toward the next unit and an estimated wait at current idle income.
  • Improved keyboard focus and buy-amount selection feedback.
  • Reduced repeated HUD updates and shop lookups.

Existing saves remain compatible. Producer prices, income, progression, and offline reward rules are unchanged.

For Cloud play across devices, let Steam finish syncing after you exit before starting on another device. If Cloud is unavailable, your mission can still be saved locally.

Thanks for playing and helping improve Bots to Mars!
