You asked for quicks and combination plays. So I followed through.
For hitters, jump before the setter touches the ball and the setter will send you a quick set. Be ready, the ball is coming fast.
Previously, your character would always jump toward the ball when attacking. Now, when you're running a quick, your character will jump in the direction you're facing, giving you more control over your approach and allowing you to run a variety of combination plays.
For setters, it's even simpler. If your chosen hitter is already in the air, the setter will automatically send them a quick, as long as you're aiming at their spiking reach.
With quicks now available, it might seem like they're the obvious way to beat the blockers.
They're not that easy.
Quicks are high risk, high reward. You have less time to decide where to hit, making it easier to make errors. You'll need good timing, positioning, and awareness to consistently pull them off.
And quicks aren't limited to middle attacks. You can now run all kinds of combination plays, including:
Slides
Shoots
And more
You can jump from anywhere and the setter will send a fast-tempo set to you. Experiment with your teammates and find combinations that work for your playstyle.
This update also includes plenty of smaller improvements:
You can now dive for out-of-system rallies.
Improved bot defensive behaviour.
Just like players, bots will now face the direction they're planning to hit making attackers readable.
Some optimization.
The goal is to make Free Ball's volleyball system more dynamic and give you more ways to outplay the opposing team.
Get out there and start running some combos.
