This is the biggest update Abjure has had. Beating the game is no longer the end of a run, every level has a new kind of event round, there is a daily run shared by every player, the whole game now plays in 19 languages, and every screen can be driven from a keyboard or a controller. Both the full game and the demo are updated.
In short:
The Reckoning — press on past the final boss into rounds 25–32 for score.
Crossroads — one optional, non-fight event per level with a real decision in it.
Daily Challenge — one fixed run per day, identical for everyone, one attempt.
19 languages, fully translated. Switch any time in Settings.
Full keyboard and controller play, 40 Steam achievements, and a stack of quality-of-life changes for faster runs.
Beat the level-6 boss and the victory is banked in full: unlocks, mastery, records and score are all yours the moment it happens. Then you get an offer: keep going.
Rounds 25–32 are two more levels of the same run, with the deck and relics you built.
Every non-boss round is a Trial: you fight it under a boss modifier, no opt-out. Rest and the level's Crossroads still let you skip a round, at the cost of its payday.
Reckoning bosses stack modifiers: two at level 7, three at level 8.
It is score only. Depth keeps paying, a full clear adds a big bonus, and the new SS grade sits just below the guaranteed-clear floor, so a Reckoning that dies at round 31 with a complete build can still reach it.
Falling in a Reckoning does not undo the win. Your run is still recorded as a victory.
Three achievements live here: reach round 28, clear all 32, and win all six Trials in one Reckoning.
Each level now has one optional event on a non-boss round. Taking it advances the round like a Rest, but instead of a trickle of gold you get a three-way choice, and the third option is always a safe walk-on. Eleven events are in the pool, so a run never sees the same one twice.
Trade gold or take on debt, sharpen a card's rank, trade Chips for gold or gold for Chips, buy relics from a wandering peddler, peek at the road ahead, gamble on consumables, trim the deck, raise your Chip capacity, duplicate your best card, buy a doubled payday, or change your pile count.
Meet all eleven for the Pilgrim achievement.
A tile on the main menu. One run per day, the same character, deck, prestige and seed for every player, one attempt. Quitting counts as your attempt, so commit.
The daily hands out characters and decks you may not have unlocked yet, as a taste. Because of that, a daily win does not feed the unlock ladder. Score, records and achievements all count.
Your streak is the number of consecutive days you started a daily. Showing up is what it rewards.
Statistics has a new Daily tab with a five-week calendar of your grades.
Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Czech, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and Turkish. Every string in the game is translated, including relics, boss modifiers, tutorials and the compendium. Change it in Settings; it applies immediately. These translations have not yet had native-speaker review. If a line reads wrong in your language, tell us in the Community Hub and it will be fixed.
The entire game, fights, menus, shop, dialogs and reward screens, now plays without a mouse. Press Esc in a fight to see the full list in Settings.
In a fight: Arrow keys move the card cursor, Space selects, Shift+Space selects every card of that rank, Enter plays, P passes, S changes the sort, Backspace clears the selection, R opens your deck and relics.
Everywhere else: Arrow keys move between buttons, Enter presses, Esc cancels or opens Settings.
Controller / Steam Deck: D-Pad or Left Stick moves, A selects or presses, Y plays, X passes, LB sorts, RB clears, Back opens deck and relics, B or Start goes back or opens Settings.
40 Steam achievements, from your first fight win to clearing all 32 rounds. Four are hidden and each one is a deliberate choice you make, never luck. They are permanent; resetting your statistics never touches them.If you played before this update, anything you already earned is recognised and unlocks on Steam the first time you launch.
Abjure shipped with no way to look anything up. Now there are four, all reachable mid-run.
Compendium — every relic, boss modifier, crossroads, gambit and modifier, sealed until you meet it, with your personal record on each (how often you won with a relic, which boss has beaten you most). Open it from the Deck & Relics overlay, or from Statistics on the main menu.
Hand Rankings — the full ladder of hands in order of strength, annotated with the rule-changing relics you are actually holding. Locked hand types (Butterfly, Five of a Kind) are shown greyed with the relic that unlocks them. Same overlay.
The Road Ahead — a button on Round Select and in the Shop that lays out the whole run: every boss, elite offer, crossroads and trial. Opt-in, so you can still play blind.
Deck shape — a histogram of your deck by rank at the top of the deck viewer, so a rank-up, removal or duplicate purchase is visible instead of felt.
Mastery grid — a Statistics tab of character × starting deck squares showing the highest prestige you have cleared each pairing at, plus lifetime records per deck and per character. Both end screens now point at your next open square.
Game Speed — Normal, Fast or Turbo in Settings. Scales every animation and the opponent's think time; never a rule, payout or odds roll.
Skip the ceremony — one click, Space or Enter on any reward screen finishes the counting and lands every cue in order.
Save & Quit — in Settings during a run. Your run is checkpointed at Round Select and again the moment a fight is won, so quitting from the shop never replays a fight and never loses one. Give Up still exists, below it.
Concede — a fight you have already lost can be ended from Settings. It is priced exactly like playing it out.
Stuck hint — when nothing in your hand can beat the table, the hint line says so, instead of leaving you to search.
Interest guidance — the payout screen tells you how much more to hold for the next interest tier, and the Shop's gold label shows how much you can spend before losing one.
Post-mortem — the loss screen names one concrete thing to do differently next time.
Score breakdown — an itemised score on both end screens, with a letter grade and how many points the next grade is away.
Every run has an 8-character code, shown on Character Select and both end screens. The same code always lays out the same run: bosses, elites, crossroads, shops, piles. Copy it, send it to a friend, or type one in from the seed picker to replay a run. Prestige, character and deck are not part of the seed, so the same code stays comparable across setups.
Boss modifiers expanded to 18. One shared pool feeds boss fights, elite offers and Reckoning trials, so no two runs draw the same line-up.
Elite offers and Trials draw from a 13-modifier subset that is fair outside a boss fight.
Five more achievements tied to the new systems: Wayfarer, Pilgrim, Bestiary, Curator and Rivalry.
New Rajdhani typeface, card shaders, screen shake and deal animations, plus a readability pass across every screen.
Reworked buttons, popups and scene fades; reward ceremonies with fly-to-table cards, big-play bursts, confetti and boss stings.
A single colour grade across the whole game so menus, felt and backdrops share one look.
Every screen now fits the window at any language and any accessibility font size.
Your saves, unlocks and statistics carry over. An unfinished run from the previous version resumes normally.
Demo players: progress made in the demo carries into the full game on the same PC, achievements included.
This is still an alpha. Balance, especially in the Reckoning, will move. Bug reports and feedback go in the Community Hub discussions; a seed code with the report makes a bug reproducible.
