THE SPOOL

Chips no longer land on your score the moment you earn them. Each suit has its own SPOOL, and every flip, play and draw winds chips onto the spool of the card that earned them. Sending a card home COMMITS that suit's spool, and it pays out at whatever chain you are holding right then.

Commit early and the spool is thin. Wind it to the brim first and it pays PERFECT PRESSURE. Commit two suits within three plays and they CHORD, and the whole thing compounds. NIGHTLY BACKUP takes a spool at half rate if you would rather not risk it.

Only a send heats the chain, and nothing you do at the deck cools it, so the pressure is yours to build and yours to lose. Quotas still climb every night, but they climb gentler late in the week than they used to.

Every wind now says what it was and where it went: one label leaves the card, holds a beat and flies to its spool, and the cell punches when it lands. Get a rhythm going and the game keeps up, the callouts stop piling and the board stops nagging. Let it go cold and it offers you the next obvious play.

FREECELL.EXE

A new icon beside SOLITAIRE.EXE runs its own week on the same desk: eight cascades, four free cells, every card face up, no deck. Freeing a cell pays, and so does clearing a cascade. Same shop, same plugins, same reviews. Playable in the trial.

SPIDER.EXE

Two decks, ten cascades, a stock that deals a whole row. Stacks build down in any suit; only a one-suit run moves as a unit, and a full K to A run files itself. The machine never calls a Spider table unwinnable. Two suits for now.

SAFETY TRAINING

A minesweeper on the desktop, top left. Nine by nine, ten mines, a FLAG button for pads. The OS keeps count of how many fields you clear. It is honest about the number. For now.

ALSO

CHALLENGE.EXE can launch a SHARED SEED or a RANDOM shift in either program. TODAY'S SHIFT stays a SOLITAIRE.EXE deal. F1 has a FREECELL tab. A refused stack now says how many cards the free cells and empty cascades can carry.

Something else may turn up on the desktop. It does not stay.

Every terminated shift ends with a verdict on the report: dead from the first card, winnable and the move where you left the line, or you clocked out with a line still open. REQUEST AUDIT plays that line back on the board, one move at a time or on AUTO, from the report or from last night's card in My Comput…
