v0.22 — The whole course speaks your language

Your language, on every blackboard

The A1 course — 21 chapters, 63 lessons, 84 boards and 8,652 exercises — is now translated into all 32 supported languages. Every word, hint and situation appears in the language you picked, next to the English you are learning.

"Where are you from?" now follows you, too: a Japanese player practises "I'm from Japan. I live in Tokyo.", a Brazilian one "I'm from Brazil."

A new voice cast

The entire voice library — 19,019 lines — was re-recorded with new, natural American English voices. Everything is pre-rendered and offline: no delay before a line, nothing to install, no internet needed.

Rooms that had gone quiet can be heard again: the practice-room greetings, the grammar rooms, the word-room quiz and the speaking checkpoints all speak.

Crafting that pays

Every crafted item is now priced from what it is made of, so gathering, cooking and smithing are worth the trouble. Bread used to sell for less than its own flour — that is over.

Lessons on your terms

• "I know these topics — skip" on the blackboard: pass a lesson you already know (no gold, no grinding).
• The board fits the screen — no scrollbar, Back and Next where you expect them.
• The numbers teachers set a daily limit and send you home with "come back tomorrow".

Fixes

• Eight doors dropped you on a tile you could never walk off — the Talk Street entrance, the inn, the shops and both houses in Village 2. Fixed.
• Practice rooms refused to start if your journal already held another quest.
• Speaking checkpoints left their finished task list on screen.
• The bag button label no longer clips Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
• Traditional Chinese now says "I'm from China", matching Simplified.
