Seven years ago, Real VR Fishing launched with a simple goal: bring the calm, the thrill, and the community of real fishing into VR. Seven years later, thanks to this community, we’re still casting lines together — and we’re celebrating with our biggest anniversary event yet.

Event Overview

Starting September 16, the Prehistoric Sharks event brings ancient ocean life into RVRF’s waters, alongside new content designed to give both new and returning anglers something to sink their hooks into. The event runs through early October — and fittingly, it introduces exactly 7 shark species, one for every year of RVRF’s journey so far.

What’s New

- 7 prehistoric shark species — one for each year of RVRF — spanning multiple eras of ocean history

- 3 new fish species added to the game

- Personalized Angler’s Logbook — a new way to track your catches and progress

- Limited-time event gear & costumes, available only for the duration of the event

Map Rollout Schedule The event unfolds across three era-based maps, released one per week:

- Week 1 — September 16, 2026: Paleozoic map opens

- Week 2 — September 22, 2026: Mesozoic map opens

- Week 3 — September 29, 2026: Cenozoic map opens

- Once open, all three era maps remain accessible together — early October 2026: the event concludes across all maps

How to Participate (once the event goes live on September 16)

1) Open the event map screen and check the hints shown there — they’ll point you to the specific maps/locations where fossils can be caught

2) Head to those locations and fish to catch fossils

3) Collect the target quantity of fossils to unlock the event map/stage

Rewards Taking part in the event earns you exclusive rewards, including a new fishing rod, hat, boat, and title — available only for the duration of the event, so be sure not to miss it.
