Grand Cru: The Wine Maker — v0.10.0 Update

Bonjour, winemakers!

For too long the château kept its secrets. A buyer walked away and you never knew why. A bottle sold for a fortune — or a pittance — and the number just appeared. This update pulls back the curtain: v0.10.0 is all about seeing the why behind your economy.

Gameplay

  • Price Causality Panel — Every wine now reveals the full chain behind its price: base value, quality, reputation, aging, awards, and market demand, each shown as its own multiplier that closes cleanly to the final figure. No more mystery numbers.
  • Buyer Compatibility Meter — Before you commit to a deal, read how well a buyer fits your wine — their style match and the score wall they expect — so you can tell a good offer from a bad one at a glance.
  • Deal Reward Beat — Closing a sale now lands: a cash count-up, a reputation toast when you've earned it, a stamped seal and a satisfying thunk. (Your father's wine stays out of your reputation, as always.)
  • Season Sales, Told as a Story — The season summary now narrates who bought from you and why, tracks the Bordeaux market month by month, and awards sellout and hype badges to your standout vintages.

Progression

  • An Eye for Prices — Your Commerce skill now sharpens your vision. At low levels the price breakdown reads hazy; as you grow it comes into full focus (up to ×8 clarity at the top). Level up your Commerce skill and watch the fog lift — "an eye for prices has opened."
  • Grade Ladder, Always Visible — The quality grade ladder now shows from the very start, so even a first-day winemaker has a frame of reference.

Onboarding

  • Encyclopedia, Open from Day One — Basic entries are now readable at skill level 0 (only the deeper tiers stay gated). New players no longer face the paradox of needing knowledge to unlock knowledge.
  • Term Tooltips — Hover or tap key wine terms — terroir, canopy, malolactic fermentation, courtier, négociant — for a plain-language explanation right where they appear.
  • Faster Start — Starting a new game now auto-assigns your first empty save slot and skips straight in. Four clicks became one. (Occupied slots are never touched.)

Bug Fixes

  • Season Income Display — Fixed non-year-end seasons showing $0 income; the summary now reads live cumulative earnings, honestly labeled "this year to date."
  • Localized Sale Records — Auction and import sale entries now render buyer names correctly in every language.

What's Next

The road to v1.0 continues — your father's story reaches its finale. Thank you for growing this vineyard with us.

Santé!
