Hey there Raygunners!
Today marks one year since Raygun Gadabout blasted off into space on Steam.
It's been an incredible journey and I am eternally grateful for everyone who's joined for the ride.
This was my first game. I still remember clearly noodling around in Unity, watching YouTube videos to learn C# (yikes!), both excited and terrified. But I guess I was carried forward by a very naive optimism. What I don't remember was what my goal was when I started, apart from creating a game. Did I really think that 8 years later it would actually be on Steam and being played by people all over the world? That's Incredible! 🙌
Inspired by playing Super Metroid when I was a kid, I used to dream of taking off in Metroid's ship and flying off to discover new worlds. And unlocking a crawl ability.
While I did achieve my goal of space exploration, I never did manage to add a crawl ability to Quinn. The technology just wasn't there, perhaps one day we will have computers with the processing power to make this dream come true as well.
There've been 2 minor content updates to the game, as well a bunch of patches to fix bugs and balance stuff. Thanks to everyone who's reached out with feedback, your help has been incredible!
I have been working on an update that I hope to release (when it's ready). It'll have a bunch of stuff that was cut before release. I'll be posting some teasers about this soon. I'm pretty excited. As you'd imagine it's a real bummer having to cut stuff out. Keep an eye out for that. 👁️
If you wanna keep up with everything that's coming up, you can join the DISCORD. Come say hello.
I'm also working on a new game. If you're interested in testing it out I'll be opening up some ALPHA TESTING for it as well. It'll be announced on the Discord when it's ready.
To celebrate, I'm releasing an update and putting the game on sale for 🎉 30% off! 🎉
Fixed an issue where the roll animation would not be interrupted when taking damage
Major audio rework: Rebalanced sound effects and music throughout the game for a more consistent and polished audio experience
Interacting with NPCs uses direction-up instead of face button east (b-button on Xbox Gamepad)
Various bug fixes
Other stuff
Once again... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. It's an immense privilege to have you fine people play my game. I hope you're all doing well, take care of each other.
