Hi everyone!
This newsletter is late, but July has run us ragged. We've been travelling, posting on socials, surviving the heatwave, and somehow also making a game… Something had to give and thankfully it wasn't the latter.
Speaking of making the game: placeholder art is currently on its way out, and tonnes of shiny new 3D assets are coming in. The whole team is buzzing.

Bad Magpie travelled all the way to Guadalindie in Málaga. Feedback was unanimously positive… at least according to the 14 people who actually filled in our feedback form (gracias):

Bad Magpie will be at gamescom in Cologne (26-30 August) and we've got two booths, so consider yourself outnumbered:
⭐ Xbox - Hall 7, Booth A-0.61
🐦 Indie Arena Booth - Hall 10.2, Booth 24

We'll see you there!
This month also saw some nice press for our magpie, both of which addressed the goose in the room, as well as the existential anxieties powering Bad Magpie:
Edwin Evans-Thirlwell deftly summarised the tonal tightrope we’re trying to walk in his Rock Paper Shotgun preview:
"the buffet of balmy brainpops is engagingly soured by the game's characterisation of collection as a way of avoiding, or perhaps processing, anguish."
Then we had a lovely chat about the genesis of the game with Chris Schilling for the Guardian:
"Any game featuring a mischievous bird was always going to draw comparisons to Untitled Goose Game [...] Bad Magpie is very much its own bird – not least thanks to its higher dynamic tonal range."
Our Discord is popping off with BTS content regularly being dropped in the #sneak-pecks channel as well as art director Catherine Unger opening the floor for questions about Bad Magpie’s artwork and visual style.

That’s all for us this month. See you in August!
