Factory Town 2: Paradise · published · build 24999554
You can now play Factory Town 2 comfortably from your couch! Whether you have a Steam Deck or a regular gamepad, the game's input has been overhauled to allow full functionality and easy navigation using these devices. I tried my best to add helpful glyphs around the UI, but if you're curious here are the useful mappings:
Control
Action
Left joystick
Move Avatar or Camera
Right joystick
Camera
Dpad
Navigates around world in grid mode (If in menus, navigates the menu cursor)
A
Confirm / Select
B
Back / Cancel
Y
Open Build Menu
X
Avatar Interact (harvest, transfer items)
Start/Menu
Jumps cursor to background menu
Select/View
Toggles Avatar / Camera view modes
Left/Right shoulder buttons
Rotates cursor (when in menu, changes menu tabs)
Left/Right triggers
Change cursor height / size
Additionally, if you're on a Steam Deck and you want to use the specially designed mapping, make sure you check out the "Official Layout for Factory Town 2: Paradise" layout in the 'Recommended' section of your controller config window. It should be applied by default if you've never launched the game on the Steam Deck before. This adds the following inputs:
Control
Action
Right trackpad
Mouse cursor / Mouse click
R4
ESC
R5 / L5
Zoom
I'm looking for any feedback in case any of the menus don't work as well as you'd like, so feel free to post your results on the Steam Forums or the Discord.
I added a new video option 'Smooth Terrain'. (It's on by default, but you can turn it off if you like a classic / blockier look).
This is how it looked before:
...and this is how it looks with Smooth Terrain on:
Note this setting also adds ambient occlusion around the edges of height changes, to make it more obvious where heights change.
Lots of performance improvements
Selected object panel now updates in sections, instead of redrawing the whole panel every time. This improves performance but more importantly maintains scroll / cursor position if editing a live building
Added more visible highlight to the active mouse cursor or controller cursor UI element
Fixed some issues where various tools weren't showing correct preview highlight areas
Added more skybox reflection in the water shader
Added a bit of HDR glow to the camera
Remove Resource tool now shows red highlight rings around the resources that will be removed
Improved display of water trench banks
Increased size of controller glyphs in the Context Controls menu
When in controller mode, added more hotkey labels to important UI buttons
Added header to quests panel and rewards panel to indicate which tab you’re on
Avatar and Overhead view mode buttons are always visible
Fixed bug: was unable to select underground targets when assigning a logic block target
Fixed bug: Logic blocks Priority Sorter and Timer could not be built underground
Fixed bug: toggling a logic link off (by choosing ‘set target’, and then clicking on the current target) would delete the logic link entirely
Fixed bug: Mana Recharger was available from the start of the game
Fixed missing sprite and label for Mana Recharger research
Fixed some terrain decals that were not correctly aligned with terrain surface
Fixed 'flat' and 'waypoint' being shown in context tip menu for water trenches and pastures tiles
Fixed terrain holes that would appear if water trenches were built on oddly-angled surfaces
Next few updates will probably focus on getting through some bug reports & feature requests that have popped up, and after that I will be looking at adding co-op multiplayer!
Thanks for playing : )
