You have never had this valley to yourself. Rabbits break from the brush, deer watch you from the treeline, and larger things move through the cold. But until now, nothing in it hunted you as a pack.
The forest has a new apex predator, and it does not hunt like anything you have faced. Wolves move as a pack. They stalk, hold their distance, read the ground, and coordinate, with drivers running you down while flankers cut off your escape. They pick their moment, dart in to test you, and commit only when they sense weakness. A lone wolf is wary. A pack with its blood up is another matter entirely. You will feel watched long before the first one closes.
A threat is only fair if you can survive it. A burning campfire or a lit torch drives wolves off, breaking them from open flame and pushing them back. Keep the fire fed, carry a torch when you move after dark, and you hold a wall between yourself and the treeline. Let it die, and the dark closes in.
A wolf that connects leaves you bleeding, a laceration that keeps costing you until you deal with it. Bandage the wound to stop the bleed. Ignore it, and the wilderness finishes what the pack started.
Press F1 to open your field journal, a living record that grows as you survive. It gathers survival fundamentals in a Guide, a dedicated Gear and Supplies volume that fills itself in as you discover and craft tools, clothing, food, fuel, and shelter, and a personal Journal that sets down your story as it unfolds, chapter by chapter. No more alt-tabbing to a wiki, the knowledge lives in the world with you.
- New fire-building guidance, with clearer feedback when a fire fails to catch
- Forage sticks from beneath the trees for tinder and fuel
- Wildlife is warier and more alive, reading your presence and bolting
- Significant performance work across the living-world simulation for smoother frames
Thanks for surviving Black Skies with us in Early Access. Every run you take, and every piece of feedback you send, shapes what comes next.
