We have a new closed alpha build available for y'all to try out! Please welcome, v0.76.1, containing an entire month of changes from the team and some major improvements across the game.

Headlines

  • Revamped our first level, Florida IX! It's way more fun now, with lots more loot, better enemy encounters, and more interesting places to go.
  • Several new weapon, modifier, and utility parts!
  • Significantly improved enemies with new AI, new art, and new configurations!
  • VFX and sounds in more places! Feel the juice!

Level Changes: Florida IX — Dowijuya

  • Completely reworked the bulk of the level
    • The railway section is gone and replaced with a cliffside walkway. There is also a secret path if you're up for some parkour!
    • We've improved the sections of the game in the lobby and power room.
    • The upstairs of the Nice 'N' Tidy building now has real geometry. Textures coming soon!

  • Fixed several issues with bad collisions and places you can get stuck.

Combat

  • Added a new weapon type: the Blob Launcher! It's our first AoE weapon!
  • There are two variants of this weapon on Florida IX.
  • Added a new equipment type: the Frontal Shield! It's great for parrying.
  • Revamped enemy AI so that they're always doing something dangerous.
  • Reworked the crosshair system to be more readable and dynamic.
  • The crosshair now indicates when your weapon is out of range.
  • Added recoil to most weapons.
  • Enemies now have improved visuals and animations.
  • Players and enemies can now be stunned and knocked over during combat.

Engineering

  • Added a new set of modifier parts that, when powered, affect other parts.
  • Can you break the new "Coldifier" modifier part? Let us know!
  • Parts now have minimum _and_ maximum temperatures more consistently.
  • Much more information is now present in info panel pop-ups.
  • Added support for most keys when rebinding switches.
  • Added a fancy new effect when dragging parts around.

Editor

  • Added hover tooltips to most things.
  • The search box is now more powerful; use `$` to search for entities by ID and `.` for specific components.
  • Focus entities in the outliner by pressing `/`.
  • Lights now have an icon render in their place and can have their influence range visualized.
  • Several improvements to editor and component adding panels.
  • Adding a warning when editing a scene that's being played.
  • It's now possible to create cables in the editor.
  • Camera speed can be controlled with number keys.
  • macOS now uses `cmd` instead of `ctrl` in more places.

Misc. Bugfixes

  • Fixed sparks being spewed out of erroneous collisions.
  • Fixed players being spawned when they shouldn't be in the editor.
  • Added more guidance in places that players were getting stuck in.
  • Fixed parts getting lost when dragging them while moving.
  • Made the pause when conversations start much less jarring.

Known Issues

  • Volumetrics are still disabled by default in this build. You can open the editor (even in a running game) with F3 and turn them on with Graphics -> Volumetrics, but be warned that they are very taxing.
  • We're investigating an issue with loading from a save sometimes causing parts to get disconnected. Reattaching your parts should fix any issues.
