Dear visitors of Flammerion Island,
Over the past few weeks we've rolled out many updates, the biggest of which is the Input & UI update, along with fixing the crash on Steam Deck.
A visual hint system has been added that automatically switches the input-hint icons between keyboard & mouse or controller (Xbox by default).
The hint menu has also been merged with the ESC key or the home button on your controller. You'll now always see an overlay with control hints, which used to be a separate hint overlay. This overlay always shows the controls for whichever tool you're currently holding, and from this overlay you can also quit the game.
The game controls have been updated: on PC, switching between categories and item lists has been made more dynamic and as efficient as possible, so you can play quickly and easily. If you want, you can manage and set your entire inventory using just the mouse wheel, or use a combination of scrolling and the 1, 2, 3 keys (each a category) and 4 (empty hands).
Important: the last selected item in a category is remembered and will be selected first again as soon as you switch back to that category. Handy if, for example, you want to keep a specific document selected while using another tool in the meantime, and then regularly return to that same document in the document list (and vice versa).
- Clicking the mouse wheel switches between categories.
- Scrolling the mouse wheel cycles through the items in a category in two directions (up/down).
- Keys 1, 2, 3 switch between categories; pressing the same key multiple times scrolls through the items in that category.
- The Q key also switches categories; holding it puts away any tool for empty hands. Key 4 is also empty hands.
- Shoulder buttons switch categories in two directions (left/right).
- D-pad up/down switches between items in a category.
- Besides the bike bell explanation while cycling, the bike now also has an icon showing the input hint for dismounting, so you know which input to use to get off.
- Spider demons can now also be hit by Soul Hits from the butterfly weapon. This creates a fairer balance for steering the soul frequency you're in.
- Optimizations in the demo.
- V-Sync now works properly: the game used to be capped at 47 fps, which has now been removed, so a custom fps can be set.
- 40 fps added as an option in the settings menu.
- The Steam Deck crash has been fixed: the game hadn't been running on Steam Deck for a while. It now runs fine again.
- Steam Deck is now automatically detected, and on first launch after installation it turns V-Sync off and sets the framerate to 30 in the settings.
- Invert Y-axis is now an option in the settings menu.
- New "Reset player position" button in the settings menu: the game always saves the player's last location, so if you ever get stuck somewhere in the game world, this is a quick fix.
- The UI score counter has been removed from the gameplay UI and moved to the relevant pages in the journal, where it belongs.
- Improved UI and input control guidance.
