👋 Hello dear reader! Are you ready to delve into a new and colorful challenge?

I’m Emanuele and in this post - as a Raging Ball insider - I will introduce you to the world of Raging Ball!

⭐ WHAT EVEN IS THIS?

First of all, let me try framing the game for you using the tags that you can commonly see on Steam…

  1. 🕹️ 2D PLATFORMER

    I’m 99% sure

Even though it’s not your standard platformer since the movement system is far from running, dashing, and jumping, Raging Ball is surely a 2D side-scroller focused around, well… dashing, actually.

  2. 🔥 DIFFICULT

Yeah pretty sure about this one

The game is surely challenging at first, but movement and controls are extremely consistent and fair, thus you will be able to get very good at it and you’ll be able to play by muscle memory when you’ll get the system down.

  3. 😡 RAGE GAME

    80% sure

You will lose progress. That’s simply it. If you keep this in mind, going backwards will not hurt you badly since it’s just part of the experience. The game wants you to repeat certain sections (some of them more than others) to make sure you can face the hardest stuff along the way!

  4. 1️⃣ ONE INPUT GAME

    100% confirmed

Yeah, Raging Ball is hard to master but… it’s stupidly simple to control since it only uses 1 input!

🤷 HOW DO I PLAY?

One input: press a button. When you do so, time slows down and a pointing arrow spins around your ball.

Then you RELEASE! 💨💨💨

And the ball will dash in the direction pointed by the arrow. You don’t have to worry about power: the force applied to the ball is always the same. Just worry about timing and well… your aim!

That’s it? Kinda… Here’s the catch. 🫠

  1. The arrow only spins for a few seconds, but after that you just get launched in whatever direction it is pointing. So you have no infinite time to stall.

  2. You can only dash ONCE!

Well, to be more precise: you have 1 dash available, but each time you bounce into a solid surface (i.e. terrain) you get the dash back.

  3. Some surfaces are slippery and cancel your dash capability until you touch another regular platform. You guessed it right: you definitely want to avoid these.

🌈 IS IT FOR YOU?

Probably? I’d say most likely.

See, Raging Ball is kinda strange. It is at the same time perfect for hardcore gamers looking to master a true challenge, but it’s equally as good for casual gamers that want to spend some time bouncing around.

I’d even say that Raging Ball is probably best played in bite-sized sessions, casually logging in for 20 to 30 minutes to practice a bit, and then coming back the next day to conquer the game inch by inch.

That’s why it is good for you even if you are not an hardcore gamer: because you don’t have to be!

🤔 STILL INDECISE?

No worries. You can expect further posts in the next weeks so you can deeply understand the game and discover all its nuances.

This was just a generic overview of the game. But in the future I’ll go deep in discussing gameplay, feeling, map design and themes, unique mechanics and many other aspects of the game. At the end of this you’ll become a Raging Ball expert!

In the meanwhile you can try the FREE DEMO AVAILABLE ON STEAM for yourself!

See you on the next one, take care! ❤️‍🔥
