Greetings, Explorers!
Thank you for joining us on this early expedition into the depths of Mars. This page will serve as your guide — it will help you get started, answer common questions, and provide support should anything go wrong during your journey.
Let us descend.
The playtest lasts approximately 3 hours, depending on your playstyle and how deeply you explore.
The playtest is currently available in English, Turkish, Chinese and Russian. Localization is still in progress, so you may notice some errors or missing text — these will be addressed before release.
We’re also considering additional languages for the full launch based on community interest, so feel free to let us know what you’d like to see.
Absolutely! We love seeing your adventures in the Martian jungle.
If you do decide to share any videos or screenshots, feel free to tag them with #BlindDescent or post them in our Discord so the community can see your discoveries.
Since this is a playtest build, you may encounter bugs, glitches, or other technical issues — but don’t worry, they’ll be fixed by release!
We’d love for you to dive in, test the limits, and try out everything the game has to offer so far. Your feedback is key to helping us improve your extraterrestrial experience.
If you encounter an issue, please report it on Discord or by pressing F1 in-game, and include the following:
A short description of the issue
Your system specs
Steps to reproduce it (if possible)
A screenshot or video (if available)
A DXDIAG file of your PC (optional but recommended)
How do I create a DXDIAG file?
In your Windows Start menu, type “dxdiag”
Open the tool that appears
Wait until it has finished gathering data about your PC (there will be a progress bar in the bottom left corner)
Click “Save all information” and save the file
Thanks for helping us make Blind Descent better!
Blind Descent is being built with Unreal Engine 5 and uses modern rendering tools and APIs. The game runs exclusively on DirectX 12, so your GPU must support DX12 in order to play.
Below, you’ll find the estimated minimum requirements needed for the playtest. Please keep in mind that we haven’t tested every possible hardware configuration yet, so performance may vary depending on your setup.
If you’re playing with 16 GB of RAM, we recommend closing any memory-heavy background applications (such as web browsers) to ensure smoother performance during your descent.
Minimum system requirements:
42 GB of free SSD disk space
At least 4 GB of VRAM ❗️Please make sure to update your drivers for smooth work of the game!
We’re actively working on optimizing the playtest build, but you may still experience performance drops on different systems. If you do run into any performance issues, it would help us greatly if you could include your DXDIAG file when submitting feedback. You can find instructions on how to generate one in the Bug Report section above.
Please keep in mind that performance is not final. We will continue to improve optimization all the way up to Early Access to make sure the game runs smoothly on as many systems as possible.
Join our Discord server for real-time updates, support, and discussions with the devs and fellow players. Whether you have a question, need to report a bug, or just want to share stories of your Martian adventures, we’d love to see you there. If you need help, feel free to tag one of our community managers, @lutra_lutra and @kyukyu.
You can also visit the Steam Community Hub, where we actively collect and read your feedback.
After you have finished the playtest, we will ask you to complete a short survey about your experience. Your feedback is extremely important and will help shape the future of Blind Descent.
You’ll find the survey link in the game menu, and we’ll also share reminders on Discord and Steam.
Please note: playtest saves will not carry over to the final release, as the game’s systems and balance are still being actively developed. Feel free to experiment, try things out, and explore without worrying about long-term progress.
This playtest is just the beginning — there are still many updates, improvements, and new features ahead.
The Blind Descent Playtest offers a glimpse into the world we’re building. This version is fully playable, but many elements of the game are still in development. For example:
Exploration is currently limited to select areas
Some enemies are not yet present in the game
The quest system is a work-in-progress
Many creatures are still receiving their final touches
… And a number of systems are still being refined or designed
This is only the start of the journey for Blind Descent. We are continuing to expand, polish, and deepen every part of the adventure, and your feedback plays a huge role in shaping the game’s future.
Thank you for joining the expedition! We can’t wait to show you what comes next.
Your support and feedback during the playtest mean the world to us. Blind Descent is evolving thanks to players like you, and your input is driving real change. There is so much more to come!
Stay sharp,
– The Blind Descent Team
