Hi everyone! The demo has been substantially reworked based on the feedback from the first playtest, and I've just accepted a new batch of playtesters from the queue. The first playtests showed that players enjoyed Pikku's core gameplay, but some found the demo too difficult or insufficiently guided. For this second round, I've reworked the opening and improved how the game introduces its language-learning systems while preserving the challenge of deciphering an unfamiliar language.
The opening progression and first quests have been restructured into clearer, more gradual steps.
Tutorials have been rewritten and now appear only when their mechanics become relevant.
Translation Goo now distinguishes Recommended, Available, Locked, and Confirmed words.
Observation areas provide clearer progression feedback and highlight important undiscovered words.
Context Replay now stores dialogue and observation examples, with pagination and spoiler protection.
Deciphered inscriptions can add words to the dictionary and lock confirmed letter correspondences.
The journal now distinguishes Missions, Field Notes, and Completed objectives.
The inventory now supports multiple pages and rotating 3D item previews.
NPC navigation and recovery from obstacles have been improved.
Quest markers, dialogue animations, UI transitions, notifications, and bugs have been polished.
The goal is to preserve the satisfaction of figuring out the language yourself while making sure the game better explains the tools available to you.Thank you to everyone who participated in the first playtest and shared feedback. I'm looking forward to hearing what the new wave of playtesters thinks of the updated demo!
