v1.4.2.7 - The Arena - Live Now!

Hey Outlanders!

This release, we've turned our attention to refining the namesake of Mage Duel itself: the Mage Duel Arena.

With this update, the Mage Duel Arena has been redesigned to put more focus on the battle, make important information easier to read, and give every cast a little more room to breathe.

Version 1.4.2.7 brings a new Arena interface, improved decision and translation phases, expanded cast feedback, updated character and language setup, refreshed reporting and settings interfaces, and another round of fixes across the world of Mage Duel.

Whether you're throwing your first fireball or your thousandth, the path from choosing your spell to watching it dramatically ruin a Rift Wraith's day should now feel clearer, smoother, and considerably more magical.

The Mage Duel Arena

  • Redesigned the Mage Duel Arena UI for improved clarity, readability, and more room for the duel itself.
  • Consolidated player controls and information toward the bottom of the screen, creating a larger uninterrupted cinematic area.
  • Added world-space enemy information during the decision phase, including hit chance, health, and shields where applicable.
  • Redesigned the translation phase with a blue-and-gold presentation and clearer separation between the target sentence and player input.
  • Simplified the decision UI by consolidating previously scattered power and accuracy information.
  • Added a toggleable per-turn feedback display for successful casts and failures.
  • Simplified the match panel to focus on ILR and round number.
  • Repositioned Duel tooltips to reduce overlap with the main content area.

Learning Activities

  • Added a delay to the final Thread Collection answer to see whether correct/incorrect prior to the summary screen. A fairly important part of answering a question.
  • Restored the "Copy All" button in Encounters for all languages.

Character, Language, & Tutorial

  • Updated the Language and Character Selection screens to be more in theme.
  • Added a horizontal scrollbar to Language Selection.
  • Added a centered "Character options loading..." state while character options initialize.
  • Consolidated Language Setup and the Tutorial into a single two-phase popup. One popup to rule them all.
  • Added the ability to complete the Tutorial in your Target Language.

Settings

  • Updated Settings toggles for a more consistent presentation.
  • Added a Mouse Sensitivity setting.
  • Removed hidden hyperlinks from the Settings menu. Settings should contain settings. Radical concept.

Reporting & Error Messages

  • Updated the Bug Reporting and Content Reporting interfaces.
  • Updated error message presentation on the Main Menu.
  • Restored the missing Bug Report and Content Report menus.
  • Fixed Cancel Report opening a jumbled Settings page instead of, notably, cancelling the report.

General UI

  • Removed the large trailing visual effect from the GPB tail.
  • Added Discord and Website buttons to the Main Menu and in-game menus.
  • Improved unusually long character model loading times.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the hyperlinks under "Login" to remain correctly anchored and responsive.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting "No" to exit the tutorial can leave the character in a locked state.
  • Fixed the tutorial tooltip from appearing on every Duel entry.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause "Skipped" translations to disconnect the activity.
  • Fixed an issue where the Player's attack decision would occasionally neglect to throw a fireball. An important detail in a duel of magic.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Farsi characters to load without the "Preview Language" overlay.
  • Fixed a bug that showed the text resizing in the Thread Collection portal.
  • Fixed an issue where an unknown (secret?) NPC was visible in the Guided Movement Panel, but unreachable.
  • Fixed an issue where the game scene may show prior to starting the Introduction cinematic on a new character.
