Update 0.7.3 beta

Thank you for all the feedback and patience, patch 0.7.3 is now live. This is a significant update that changes a lot of things under the hood, and as a result there will most likely be more bugs to find. However, I'm happy with the changes and hope you are too. The most significant changes:

  • New Input backend = The conversion to G.U.I.D.E. is complete, which means every key can be remapped! This results in better icons and more consistent input handling. The left control key can no longer be used due to an engine-specific bug (DM if you're curious) so the default keyboard scheme is aligned to games like battlefield, with collective up/down being tied to space/c. It's well worth the improved remapping.
  • Difficulty settings = Added more granular toggles like fuel burn, damage, etc so you can fully customize how much you want to struggle (I see you @Bebacher ).
  • Flight Model Improvements = Expert mode self-levels, the camera smoothly resets, yawing at speed is greatly inhibited, and all the helicopters received some variable tweaks to make them a bit more fun to fly (subjective ofc).
  • Optimizations - Re-introduced occlusion culling and did a ton of work reducing draw calls/frame times/node counts. The game should load and perform a decent amount better :).

There have been many other smaller fixes throughout which should result in a more pleasant experience for all!

Next priorities and open issues:
Add back the Hover Mode and Altitude Hold from RS1
Fix the cars getting stuck and messing up the roads
Open-world performance can be improved
The (many) bugs still in my backlog

My life is about to get much much busier and I won't lower my quality standards to rush and meet the Steam NextFest dates, so unfortunately RS2 will not be participating this fall. While this does mean more time in the oven, the game will be better for it. Appreciate everyone's patience and support 🫶

RotorSim 2 PlaytestGame update5 Sep 2026Patch 0.7.4 betaSmall but meaningful patch (0.7.4): New Features: · The Casual Flight Model now has access to Hover Mode and Altitude Hold, both accessible from the Radial Menu. Hover mode stabilizes the helicopter and allows for more precise control at low speeds. Cannot use if traveling faster than translational lift (~40 kts). Altitude hold does just that, at any airspeed, but you must be relatively close t…
