Today we are rolling out the second major update for the Atomega Testing Ground. This update features a new game mode, a significant new gameplay mechanic, balance changes, and more.
The feedback we received on the first update played a significant role in many of the changes you see in the full patch notes below. If you would like to provide your feedback directly to the Dev Team on this update and future Atomega Testing Ground content, you can join our official Discord server.
See you in the arena!
New Gameplay Mechanic: Charge Shot
Charge Shot is a new firing mode that adds greater depth and strategy to combat. By spending Mass to charge a shot, players can unleash more powerful attacks and create new tactical opportunities during engagements. Holding a charge will continue to drain Mass, requiring players to carefully balance risk and reward. Designed to reward skillful play, Charge Shot offers an impactful new tool that can help turn the tide of battle.
New Game Mode: Ascendancy
Ascendancy is a fast-paced free-for-all mode built around continuous evolution and increasing power. Each evolution grants a unique Power-Up for the duration of that Form, allowing players to build momentum as they progress. Devolving breaks the chain and resets accumulated Power-Ups, creating a high-risk, high-reward gameplay loop. Power-Ups have been rebalanced to deliver a more arcade-style experience, and a new community challenge system rewards all players for completing shared objectives during a match.
Gameplay Updates:
We've made several gameplay adjustments to improve balance and player experience.
The Dragonfly now features a revised hitbox and a soft flight ceiling, making it easier to track and engage in combat while helping to maintain its balance within the evolution chain. We will continue to monitor the feedback around these changes.
The Omega has received a small damage increase against all forms, reinforcing its role as a powerful endgame threat and encouraging players to work together to bring it down.
We've also introduced rotational aim assist for controller players to improve target tracking and overall responsiveness. This is part of our ongoing effort to enhance controller support, and we'll continue refining the experience based on community feedback.
