Yesterday, we held a Q&A session about WheelMates on our Discord. Thanks to everyone who attended, asked questions, and supported us.
We're sharing the key points from the session with you!
Technical & Platforms
❓Will Steam Deck be supported?
Yes, Steam Deck is supported.
❓Will there be Steam achievements?
Yes, there will be Steam achievements.
❓Is there in-game voice chat?
There's no in-game voice chat. We recommend using Discord to talk with your co-op partner. Or, if you're playing in split-screen, just talk to each other directly
❓When is the console release, and on which consoles?
WheelMates is launching on PC first on September 1st. Console versions for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch are planned for the first half of 2027. We'll share more details as we get closer!
Game Modes & Co-op
❓Is WheelMates strictly two-player co-op?
Yes. We don’t currently have plans for solo play or co-op for more than two players. We believe WheelMates is best experienced with two players, and that focus is a big part of how the game is designed. If you don't have a partner yet, you can find one in our Discord here.
❓Will there be a Friend's Pass?
Yes! A Friends Pass will be available alongside the Steam version, enabling two people to play with just one copy of the game.
❓Is there a free drive or free roam mode?
The game is pretty free by design. You can explore locations at your own pace, go back to earlier areas, and just drive around without focusing on puzzles. There's no separate "free drive" mode, but you can absolutely cruise and enjoy the house whenever you want.
❓Will there be an FPV camera mode?
We don't have plans for an FPV camera at the moment
Pricing
❓How much will WheelMates cost?
The base price will be $19.99 USD, and there's a 10% launch discount at release.
Final regional pricing will be confirmed at launch.
Content & Updates
❓Will there be DLC or major updates after launch?
Yes! We have plans for DLC and there are some exciting ideas we're working on. We'll share more when we can.
❓Will there be new skins and customization?
Yes! You can customize your car by changing the color, wheels, antenna, and horn. We recently shared a devlog with a closer look at how customization works!
❓Will there be other car models?
At launch, we’ll have a Supporter Pack with a new car model and extra customization options.
Game Length & Features
❓How long does it take to complete WheelMates?
The main story takes around 6 hours. If you explore everything, find all the secrets, and dive into mini-games and extra content, expect around 8 hours.
WheelMates launches on September 1st, and we can't wait to see you and your co-op partner driving around the professor's house!
