Classic Chess, Play vs. Computer, and New Necromancer Cards
Classic Chess mode
Prefer your chess without wizards? A new toggle allows full FIDE classic chess — in hotseat, LAN, and Steam online.
- Check, checkmate and stalemate — castling, en passant, and promotion.
- Draws by the 50-move rule, threefold repetition, and insufficient material.
- Classic mode has it's own leaderboard.
- Lobby browsers only show games matching your selected mode.
Play vs. Computer
Classic chess now has a single-player mode against a real chess engine (Fairy-Stockfish).
- Available from the New Game menu.
- Five difficulty settings, from beginner (~500 Elo) up to unlimited strength.
Necromancer: two new cards
- Infected (2 mana) — When an infected piece dies, a zombie under the caster's control rises on its grave. A piece that kills an infected victim recoils in horror instead of advancing.
- Graveyard (4 mana) — At the end of your turn, while the enchanted square is empty, a zombie claws its way out — up to three times.
- Raise Dead now costs 2 mana (was 3).
- Wither and Desecrate joins the shared card pool.
- Zombies no longer inherit the pawn's double-step opening move.
Fixes
- The event log now shows events in the correct order.
