Mystik Belle: Enchanted Edition · published · build 25259346
Today I am finally bringing Mystik Belle to parity between Switch, Windows and Linux, replacing the old Steam version with Enchanted Edition. Sadly, the Mac and PS4 versions were left far FAR behind, as I no longer have means of updating them, and WayForward isn't interested in paying for a full re-test cycle on a game that isn't making them any money.
On the surface, there aren't a ton of changes, but the game has seen a major internal overhaul. Everything has been ported to the newest GameMaker IDE, which should make it faster, more stable and less affected by Windows feature rot. It also finally allowed me to compile a Linux version - something I lost ability to do a long time ago.
On the gameplay front though...
Most tricky jumps have been eliminated, and many platforms have been made jump-through to make reaching them less annoying.
Most generic "medusa head"-type enemies have been given different movement patterns.
Raccoons only steal trash items.
Much better gamepad detection and identification.
Two new achievements! Nothing exciting - one is for 100% map exploration, and one is for killing the hall monitor.
Minor interface tweaks.
Oh, and on an almost-unrelated note, I added placeholder Japanese language - it's all machine-translated slop, and is full of window overruns, but the very fact it works is kind of fascinating. If anyone is willing to make it less crap - be my guest! As of right now, I'd say it's just an unsupported extra though.
