Thanks!
First off, whew, sobosuba was my first "real" release of a game after an eternity of being a project-hopping hobbyist, and the reviews make me so happy that I keep coming back to read them for free dopamine.
The fact that sobosuba hasn't really popped off combined with the positive reviews means that it's ended up on steam250's hidden gems list.
That's cool, but you know what would be cooler? If it was a dang visible gem :) so please consider leaving a review and spreading the word etc, and thanks so much to everyone who already has.
I've mostly been working on mobile version, after that I'll get to the more fun stuff like extra modes/modifiers/features, but right now here's a little update:
So I planned on just doing Japanese first as 20% of my sales where in Japan, but then many others offered to help me with translations, so now we have Czech, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian and Serbian.
Why these specific languages? Because these are the ones people offered to help with.
thanks to: Quallenhamster, bobthebuildor, SquareAnon, m3o0i_, Luka tv, j4, GlitchedLime, jaxyn b
If you wanna help with extra languages, please contact me in the discord (link at the bottom). In return your country will be able to play sobosuba with slightly less confusion and you will be immortalized in the credits screen.
Side note: The main English fonts are custom..
..but I haven't yet added any extra characters required for the other European languages, so for now all non-English languages are using more standard fallback fonts (Noto family).
The custom fonts are CC0 and on fontstruct.com which means that you can steal them and also means that if someone really wants to they could add the accented + extra chars themselves in a fork. I doubt anyone wants to do that though so I'll get to it for the next update :)
Touch! I can't physically test this but touch input should now work (not simply via mouse emulation). So if you have a laptop with a touch-screen or some other touch device PC, then let me know if it's working ok.
Center Cancelling You can now cancel a launch by returning the arrow back to center (after it's been extended past a threshold) (the sobo needs to also have low velocity so it doesn't accidentally cancel when it itself is moving sideways into your cursor position)
Launch Arrow stays pointed towards cursor when sobo moves. Kinda hard to explain this one, but previously when a sobo moves sideways across the bar with a launch arrow active, the arrow stays relative to the sobo which can feel weird if it travels far. Now it stays pointed towards the cursor (while still respecting the initial offset of where you clicked relative to the sobo).
Gamepad launch with any shoulder. Either trigger and either bumper now launch. You can also now launch without aiming a stick, which causes it to drop with zero force. (same as clicking without dragging)
Gamepad select with bumpers. Option in settings to let you use LB and RB to select left/right sobos.
Gamepad stick swap. Option in settings that lets you select with right stick and aim with left.
No more blow-ups (all fingers and toes crossed). Total physics blow-ups should be a lot less likely to happen, and if they do happen, they should get fixed immediately. It may however become more likely to see the "fixed shape" label appear as that fail-safe is now more sensitive.
Launching adds velocity rather than setting it. This means that when a sobo is travelling sideways across the float bar when launching, you may notice it keep that sideways velocity and be trickier to aim. This might throw you off occasionally, but this behavior helps with a certain gameplay trick and also I just think it's cooler and will be something players gain a sense for.
Feel free to suggest more theme ideas
Main font is now the one previously only used for descriptions, so now you can actually read the dang text in this game.
The menus have all been reworked to play nice on mobile layouts.
You now need a confirmation press before clearing local data, and you can also retrieve your achievements from Steam.
Friends Scores: You can display your friends live scores while you play, and you can also filter by friends in the scores screen.
There's more misc small things I'm forgetting about, but I'll leave it there! Once again thanks for playing and giving feedback.
The roadmap: Mobile version, then extra modes, (then add an anime girl mascot called sobochan that sits in the corner and reacts to gameplay)
