5th ERA (Demo) · published

Hey everyone! It’s time for a new progress report on 5th ERA. A lot of heavy lifting has been done behind the scenes lately, so let's dive straight into the news:
English Localization is Complete! The full English script is officially done. At this point, the final stretch of development is all about finishing up the last few character battle animations and polishing the remaining music tracks. I’m firmly on track for the Q1 2027 release! (Stay tuned for the release date)
Closed Playtest: Now that the game is playable end-to-end in English, I'm looking for a small, dedicated group of volunteers (5 to 10 players) to help test the full game in advance. Here’s a quick application form to gather testers who can help me hunt down final bugs and balance issues. If you’re interested, I invite you to apply using this form or join the Discord Server!
Steam Demo Update for the Party-Based RPG Fest! The demo is now updated for the upcoming Steam's Party-Based RPG Fest! While the content remains the same, it comes packed with quality-of-life improvements and polish (see below for the full changelog)
Important note for save files: Your progress from this new updated demo can be carried over into the final, full release of the game!
Thank you all for your support as we push through these final milestones. Let’s keep moving forward!
Best of all: your new save files from this version will carry over into the final full release!
Here is a breakdown of what's new, split by category:
Quick Inspect Tool: Use the mouse cursor or the controller's right stick in battle and menus to quickly check character status, buffs, and debuffs without opening the full character sheets in the party menu.
Controller Mapping & Help: Added a basic controls guide for anyone needing a quick refresher. Note: all controls can be fully remapped from the options menu.
Achievements Update: To ensure everything works smoothly, achievements have been removed from the demo build, but they are fully secured for the main game. In fact, the total achievement count for the full release has expanded from 49 to 72!
Sprinting Animation: Added a dedicated running animation. Previously, the system supported different movement speeds, but characters used the same walking animation regardless. Now you have a distinct run alongside the walk.
Turn-Order Bar: A clear, visible queue is now on the battle UI for better strategic planning.
Combat & Animation Polish: Refined several skills and animations, including Redian’s two stances, Cecilia’s three totems, and a much more prominent Shield Break effect (toggleable via options).
Audio Immersion: Dialogue boxes now feature character-specific typing sounds and unique system tones (toggleable in options).
Dynamic Portraits: Character portraits now react with subtle movements and shakes matching the mood of conversations.
Smoother Onboarding: Early Chapter 1 scenes have been streamlined or made optional to get you into the action faster.
