Hey penguins! 🐧
Update v1.0.5 is live! This one introduces our first version of gamepad support, alongside several UI improvements and bug fixes.

Before getting into the rest of the patch notes, we want to talk a little about gamepad support.

Gamepad Support Is Here... But We Need Your Help! 🎮

We’ve been working on adding full gamepad support to A Game About Penguins, and instead of keeping it behind the scenes until everything is perfectly polished, we wanted to get an early version into your hands.

There are still a few areas where the controls may feel a little rough or may not work exactly as expected. That’s where your feedback becomes especially important.

We want to shape the controls around how you actually play the game. If something feels awkward, unintuitive, or like it belongs on a different button, please let us know!

You can also easily change the gamepad bindings from the Settings menu, so feel free to experiment and find a layout that works best for you.

  • Right Stick: Camera

  • RT / R2 / ZR: Attack

  • LT / L2 / ZL: Aim Camera

  • Bottom Face Button or RT: Virtual Cursor Click

This is only the beginning for gamepad support. With your feedback, we’ll continue improving the controls, UI navigation, and overall gamepad experience in future updates. ❤️

Additions & Improvements

  • Added early gamepad support.

  • Updated several UI systems.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where items could appear duplicated in the Customization panel.

  • Fixed an issue where the Questling Begins achievement could fail to unlock.

  • Fixed an issue where Gamma and Brightness settings could reset unexpectedly.

Thanks again for all the feedback, it genuinely helps a ton. ❤️
Especially with gamepad support, your feedback will directly help us make the controls feel smoother and more intuitive.

If something feels weird, inconvenient, or simply like it could work better, tell us and we’ll keep polishing!
