Rengarua Update 0.130 – New map, five new species and vehicles!

Greetings dinosaur hunters! Welcome to Rengarua!
Our third official map has arrived, bringing an entirely new island to explore and hunt across. Rengarua features varied environments ranging from dry deserts and rocky terrain to forests and swamps, with new special locations to discover throughout the island. The update also introduces five new dinosaur species: Diplodocus, Dilophosaurus, Styracosaurus, Velociraptor and Oryctodromeus. Getting around Rengarua is also different from our previous maps. Vehicles make their debut in this update and can be called to your location using the satellite phone. Once requested, a helicopter will fly in and drop the vehicle near your location. Alongside all the new content, we have made major changes to dinosaur behaviour and animations, rebalanced weapons and added several new gameplay features and improvements.
New map – Rengarua
Rengarua is Prehistoric Hunt's third official hunting map and our largest new environment since Tenebris Island. The island combines several different environments and biomes, including deserts, forests, swamps, lakes and rocky areas. Roads provide routes through the island while caves and tunnels offer more places to explore. A number of unique locations are scattered around Rengarua, including industrial and abandoned sites left behind by those who came before you. Explore the island to discover locations such as the harbor, mine, watch tower, swamp cottage and plane crash.
Rengarua also introduces its own environmental conditions, including sandstorms that can dramatically reduce visibility while travelling and hunting.
Five new dinosaur species
Five new species can now be found and hunted:
• Diplodocus
• Dilophosaurus
• Styracosaurus
• Velociraptor
• Oryctodromeus Each comes with its own behaviour, animations, sounds, tracks, trophy and anatomical hit areas.
Keep an especially close eye on the smaller Oryctodromeus. It introduces a new burrowing behaviour, allowing it to dig and make use of burrows.
Vehicles
Vehicles are now available for the first time in Prehistoric Hunt!
Instead of simply finding a vehicle waiting somewhere on the map, you can request one using your satellite phone. A helicopter will then deliver the vehicle close to your requested location. Vehicles provide a much faster way to travel across the large distances of Rengarua and can also be seen on the map. Vehicle handling has also been tuned throughout testing, including increased grip to considerably reduce excessive sliding. 
Weapon balance update
Weapons have received a larger balancing pass with changes to their handling and performance.
Weapon stability has been introduced as part of the updated weapon handling to give more difference to heavy weapons. Several weapon animations and handling speeds have also been adjusted, including faster handling for the Heavy Rifle and Greystone. Bullet behaviour has been revised so that bullet lifetime is no longer directly tied to damage falloff. Dinosaurs can also hear nearby bullet impacts from further away, making shots that miss their target more likely to alert nearby animals.
Improved dinosaur behaviour
A major dinosaur AI and movement update is included with Rengarua. Dinosaur rotation and movement have been reworked to provide considerably smoother turning removing any hitching and skips in dinosaur turns. Walking & attack speeds have also been tuned to better match the actual animations of different species. Dinosaurs now have more natural awareness and reactions to their surroundings. Improvements include:
• Dinosaurs look around more naturally while roaming and investigating
• Improved head, eye and nose movement
• Dinosaurs can visibly sniff and make sniffing sounds while using their sense of smell
• New startled and walk-away behaviour to make dinosaurs react to player and other dinos more realisticly
• Improved stalking behaviour, including special behaviour during nighttime. Stalking is implemented to more species than before.
• Improved reactions to nearby threats and dangerous dinosaurs
• Improved movement and awareness around obstacles and interior areas
• Smoother transitions between idle behaviours Animations have also been improved across several existing species, including Ankylosaurus, Allosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Utahraptor and Tyrannosaurus.
Sleeping improvements
Sleeping is now more useful for recovering during a hunt. Sleeping restores stamina and also heals 20 HP, giving hunters another way to recover before continuing their journey.
Preton Beer
Need something after a long day of hunting? Preton Beer can now be consumed in-game. Drinking alcohol increases your drunkenness level, which among other things makes keeping your weapon steady considerably more difficult. Drink responsibly when there are dinosaurs around. 
Environment & visual improvements
Rengarua has brought with it a number of improvements to our environment systems that also help us build larger and more varied areas.
• Improved transitions between different terrain and biome types
• Improved vegetation rendering and distant LODs
• Improved lighting consistency between nearby vegetation and distant impostors
• Improved bush and tree materials
• Improved nighttime lighting
• Improved reflections and lighting at special locations
• Improved day transition visuals
• Improved atmospheric effects
• Flare brightness now reacts better to current sunlight levels
• New environmental audio and surface sounds Interior areas have also received improved audio support. Reverb and echo effects can now change based on the environment, with additional footstep sounds for surfaces such as concrete, metal and wood.
Performance improvements
A number of optimizations have been made alongside the development of Rengarua. Map streaming and culling have been configured specifically for the new environment, while large vegetation areas have received additional optimization. We have also made improvements to how several systems distribute their workload, particularly when the game is running at high frame rates. The default graphics quality for first-time players has also been lowered to provide a better starting point across a wider range of hardware. Graphics settings can of course still be increased normally from the options menu.
Main menu update
The main menu has received a visual rework as part of the update.

• Other players' flashlight lens flares now scale correctly based on distance
• Fixed the player's hand/body sometimes becoming visible while driving in third person
• Improved third-person caller animation to better match the player's mouth
• Improved scope visual effects

• Improved several dinosaur attack, walking and idle animations
• Fixed Brachiosaurus eating animation not looping correctly
• Improved Steam Achievement updates so newly completed achievements register immediately

Thank you to everyone who has been testing the upcoming changes and providing us with feedback. Rengarua is one of the largest updates we have made to Prehistoric Hunt, with an entirely new map, five new species, vehicles and major changes to several of the game's underlying systems.
