🚀 LaBlue Horror – Major Development Update

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working intensively on LaBlue Horror and completely reworked several major parts of the game.

This isn’t just a small patch — this update lays an important foundation for the upcoming Alpha and the future direction of the project.

🌌 COMPLETELY REBUILT LEVEL HUB

The previous Level Hub has been almost completely replaced and rebuilt from the ground up.

The new version offers a much stronger atmosphere, an entirely new environment, and a more futuristic structure that will serve as the central starting point for future levels.

What’s new:

  • completely redesigned Level Hub

  • new environment and architecture

  • new interior areas

  • improved lighting

  • new visual elements

  • stronger overall atmosphere

  • new central hub area for future levels

The latest screenshots already give you a first look at the new version.

👁️ MONSTER SYSTEM REWORKED

The existing monster system has been technically reworked and temporarily removed from Level 1.

We want the first level to focus much more heavily on psychological horror.

That means:

Not constantly seeing what threatens you.

Not knowing whether something is actually following you.

Sounds, voices, footsteps, and unexpected events will increasingly play with the player’s perception.

The monster system remains part of LaBlue Horror and will return later in a more refined form.

🧍 NPC AI REWORKED

Our NPC system has also received a major overhaul.

NPCs can now:

  • move through areas independently

  • switch between walking and idle states

  • remain in certain locations for longer periods

  • use different behavior profiles

  • react to their surroundings

  • become increasingly involved in psychological events

Their movement and animations have also been improved.

💬 NEW NPC INTERACTIONS

NPCs are no longer intended to simply serve as decoration.

We are developing a new dialogue and interaction system that allows players to speak with certain characters and choose between different responses.

Not every answer will necessarily be helpful.

Some NPCs may know more than they are willing to tell you.

Others may hear or notice things that the player hasn’t experienced yet.

And sometimes, it may not even be clear whether what they are saying is true.

🔊 SOUND & PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR

The sound system has also been expanded and reworked.

Our goal is to use audio much more aggressively as part of the psychological horror experience.

This includes:

  • distant footsteps

  • sounds appearing behind the player

  • whispers

  • voices

  • environmental sounds

  • longer periods of complete silence

  • randomized audio events

We want players to constantly ask themselves:

“Did I actually just hear something?”

🎨 TEXTURES & VISUAL QUALITY

Several textures and visual elements have been improved.

We are continuing to refine lighting, materials, atmosphere, and the overall visual presentation step by step.

🖥️ MAIN MENU REWORKED

The Main Menu has received a major redesign and has been moved over to a new UI system.

Changes include:

  • new visual design

  • improved navigation

  • redesigned selection menus

  • new character selection

  • reworked difficulty selection

  • improved overall menu flow

⚙️ SETTINGS REWORKED

The settings menu has also been significantly expanded.

Already implemented or reworked:

  • resolution

  • window mode

  • V-Sync

  • FPS limit

  • resolution scaling

  • gamma

  • graphics quality

  • volume

  • additional graphics and gameplay options

More options and improvements are still planned.

🔄 ROUND & GAMEPLAY SYSTEMS

Several internal gameplay and round systems have also been reworked and prepared for upcoming features.

Many of these changes happen behind the scenes, but they form an important technical foundation for future levels, events, and gameplay mechanics.

🛠️ ADDITIONAL CHANGES

Alongside the major changes, many smaller systems have been improved:

  • performance optimizations

  • bug fixes

  • AI adjustments

  • UI improvements

  • sound improvements

  • new interaction possibilities

  • technical preparation for future features

🔥 WHAT’S NEXT

The direction for LaBlue Horror is becoming increasingly clear:

Less traditional monster chasing.
More atmosphere.
More uncertainty.
More psychological horror.

We want to create moments where you are no longer sure whether something actually happened — or whether the game is simply playing with your mind.

More screenshots, development updates, and new information will follow.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the project, test the game, and send us feedback. 💙
